I think I'l stick to weeks - my head won't be able to work out months if they each consist of 4.3 weeks!
Scan tomorrow, yay. Has anyone really wanted to find out the sex but been unable to because baby wouldn't play ball?0 -
Due dates are all very complicated and the outdated way they work them out is carp and it doesnt work which is why most women go over due. An average pregnancy last 280 days or 40wks from fertalisation. The calculation they use goes like this you add 1year to the 1st day of the last period subtract 3 months then add 7 days. Only problem with this is its worked on the basis every woman has a 28day cycle and ovulates at the 14 day mark which we dont and it also relys on each month having an average of 30.4 days which they dont. Another thing that throws your weeks out compared to your months is the first month is classed as weeks 1-6 not weeks 1-4 as the first two weeks you are not actually pregnant at all.
Who ever came up with the stupid system must have had one too many sherries as non of it adds up to me full stop.:jFriends are like fabric you can never have enough:j0 -
Samandona, that's what I do - too much info just scrambles my poor brain!
I've no experience with the scan, cos we stayed yellow, but I think Smartie's naughty beanie was not playing at all! Best of luck though, and I hope you get a nice clear view.

Ona my first they were not able to tell at the scan but I'd had an amnio so found out a few days later it was a girl.
moneysaver we had someone pregnant come with a script for piriton so I asked the pharmacist about it and he said it is at the docotor discretion if he feels the benefit to the mum out weighs the risk to the baby and its most likely to be piriton because it is one of the oldest antihistamines so more studies etc have been done with it. Sorry your doc changed his mind but its sometimes best to be careful, what is fine for some people can have an effect on others. Have you tried the local honey thing?0 -

That is so funny it made me laugh so much haha, My due date works out exactly 40 weeks from my LMP so not sure what calculator they used but it is an estimate so they know they are not accurate.
With my others the midwife always adjusted it for my long cycle too, not sure why they don't do that everywhere, not this time just had me down as irregular and scan date didn't change the due date.0 -
What's yours is mine and what's mine is mine..0

I've been looking forward to tomorrow almost too much and now I'm utterly convinced they won't be able to tell! Il be gutted if thats the case. I want to know!
Xmas - going by that calculation my due date is spot on! However, my cycles are (I think) between 25-27 days. Well, before I got pregnant I had kept a track of the last 5 periods I'd had and I think when I looked back they were between 25 and 27 days.
Oh my god. I just looked up and my kitchen is FULL of smoke. I HATE the gas cooker we have anyway (stupid landlord) and am convinced its either going to blow up, or, well, blow up actually. I think its just some burnt food inside the oven giving off all the smoke, or it could be the !!!!!! next door who has a fire going. Either way, if I dont post again, my oven has done as I predicted!0 -

Thankyou for your help MERFE. What it the honey thing, not heard of it.Married 09/09/090 -
some people eat honey from local bees, farm shops normally have this and it can help with their hayfever symptoms, I think it gets you used to the pollen or something but worth a try.0

I've heard this and apparently it works. My brother buys honey from his local farm for this exact reason and he swears by it.0
