If you can find somewhere to buy locally made honey it has local pollen in it, and so builds up your immune system to handle it. Also at least 3 of my friends had varying levels of success with the nelsons hayfever remedy you can buy in boots. It is homeopathic so totally fine in pregnancy, however I know lot's of people think homeopathy is a waste of money, even if I'm a convert0

I found the honey thing works! I get terrible hayfever and I hate honey, I just put it in tea instead of sugar and it tastes just fine (just don't like the smell!) and my hay fever has been much better, it's just the dust here making me sneeze.. Maybe I should put some of that in my tea?!? Lol. I've only done the honey thing a few times, and it is still working now!
Taken the pram to my mums, and tested it out. We're both very pleased with it, easy to put up and down. Turning it from pushchair to pram confused me a bit but it's not bad. Looks very nice thoughthe changing bag is very nice

Hi ladies
Hope everyone's okay. Sorry I've not been posting much, I do have a quick lurk every day though to check up on you all
Advice please if anyone can help. I'm not sure how far on I am but *about* 31 weeks (due either 18 or 25 Aug) and for the last few days I've been getting contractions that are getting increasingly strong. Yesterday I went out for a bit (really hard work with the joyous SPD) (as in I have to work physically really hard to get myself moving, not just another chance to moan) and the contractions were so painful they took my breath away. They lasted for quite a long time too. I came home, put my feet up and after a while they went and the ones I've had today have only been mild. This morning though I felt really damp and I checked myself quite a few times and there did seem to be quite a lot of discharge that smelt a bit but I'm not quite sure what of. I had a mw appt on Friday and my wee was fine then. I've also been nesting like anyone's business even though it causes me quite a bit of pain.
If I was further on I'd be definitely thinking I'm gearing up for labour but I really shouldn't be at this point. Babe is still wriggling around but quieter.
I don't remember a show with DS and waters broke while I was in the pool so I don't know what either of them look like.
Sorry for the very long post, but can anyone help me with this?
ETA: contractions are like very deep AF pain, totally in the abdomen too. I'm no wuss but there's no way you'd describe them as 'uncomfortable' - they bloody hurt! And it's definitely not the SPD either, totally wrong placeUpdating soon...0 -
Thanks everybody for the advice.I think I will insist on having mum there -she deserves to be there more than anybody else.My mum always puts me first no matter how ill she is herself. My mum spent 16 hours waiting without eating or drinking at the hospital whilst I had my spine operated a few years ago so I don't see why the hospital are being so awkward about her waiting for me for less than an hour for a c section.Hubby has no family here and has never even held a newborn baby and is squeamish with blood and needles etc so definately needs moral support while waiting. My midwife is an absolute star so will discuss it with her tomorrow.
Going for a lie down now, Baby is lying transverse and has really kicked in my ribs today.
I wonder how cafc is doing?
Easy labour vibes for all that need.Love can tame the wildest0 -
some people eat honey from local bees, farm shops normally have this and it can help with their hayfever symptoms, I think it gets you used to the pollen or something but worth a try.
Its worth a try, can the honey be mixed with something like yoghurt as i don't like honey on its own.Married 09/09/090 -
When it comes to due dates I don't know how they can work it out at the 12 week scan just by the baby's size - don't all babies grow at different rates?
For hayfever my doctor allowed me eye drops, no tablets, and said with nasal spray I could only use it if desperate as it contains steroids so prolonged use can affect baby. I didn't get any cos I don't want to be tempted. My main method is to stay indoors which fits with avoiding sun as I'm fair skinned and the thought of sunburn on top of being warmer with pregnancy doesn't bear thinking about! I have got the red light therapy thing from lloyds pharmacy if you've heard of it - i haven't got official advice from the gp that its ok to use but all the googling i've done suggests that it is (not giving medical advice, especially based on googling!) and i really can't see what harm 2 red lights up your nose would do (apart from looking very silly!). I started using it last year and either it did lessen my symptoms, or they're naturally reducing with age (i've always hoped i'd be one of those people to grow out of hayfever).0 -

Apparently not for the first 12 weeks!! It is after this point they grow at different rates which is why they do the 12 weeks scan and use that to estimate your due date.. bear in mind though a 'normal' pregnancy is 37-43 weeks.. 6 weeks is a huge gap and even the 12 week scan has a 7 day margin of error!!!

I'm 27 weeks and haven't packed my bag yet (not even bought anything to go in it yet). Will probably back it round about 34/35 weeks.
I bought a 5 pack of muslins from boots with ds - I still have 4 of them brand new, never used - was going to stick them on ebay but thought I may as well keep them and see if I use them this time.
Pigpen - think I've also started nesting, I have a very clean living room and would have quite happily carried on the kitchen but kids needed feeding/bathing etc.
Back at work tomorrow after 7 weeks off and strangely looking forward to it.0 -
Sonee, I really hope your mum gets to stay. Your OH will definately need some support if he's a bit squeamish and not really been around babies before it might get overwhelming for him. Glad that your MW is supportive of you though, that should count for something in getting your mum there.
Kitkat, it's fun having a play with the pram isn't it? Still need to figure a few things out on mine, especially how you attach the rain cover, don't want poor bubs getting flooded.
