hi all
Hazzie-Thinking of you , take care of yourself x
Speedy labour vibes for you Convent.
Kitkat-I really love the silvercross 3d too , you have had a fab deal.I would love to buy that but it is too big for tiny little me (according to hubs) so will have to stick to maxi-cosy car seat and quinny. It's my dream pram though.
I'm not happy and hoping to speak to midwife tomorrow when she visits me at home.
My c section is on the 1st july and throughout my pregnancy my lovely mum has looked after me although she is ill herself, I haven't had to lift a finger and couldn't have got through it without her but at the pre op I was told that mum wouldn't be allowed to see me or baby until 6 in the evening and only hubby would be allowed to wait in recovery for me(i'm having a general anesthetic).Hubby is also very nervous and really wants mum to be there waiting with him and we both wanted mum to see and hold our baby first.I'm so upset about it and I can see my mum is disappointed too.I feel like my wishes are being ignored as it is not much to ask imo.Love can tame the wildest0 -

Thanks pigpen and xmas about the muslins, I intend on using them for everything and want to have them to hand so will keep some upstairs, downstairs and in car. Will pick up a few more, where's best to get more?!
Thanks sonee about the 3d, I have liked it for agesI'm only 5'2 and it seems perfect size for me and perfect for my OH who is about a foot taller. I didn't try lifting it though as the assistant in mothercare wouldn't let me when I said I was 32 weeks, as long as I can get it in and out of car should be ok.
Just about to have jacket spuds with cheese and beansmmmmmmm!

Oh btw sonee, Im with pigpen, demand your mum is allowed in. My mum is also ill and has been amazing through my pregnancy, I was so upset they wouldn't let me take her and OH into the 20 week scan, just OH. I let it pass but you could see she felt left out and it didn't feel right without her. Stick to your guns!0

Sonee- def talk to your MW! I'm in MK which has an awful maternity unit that is currently in special measures, however one thing they are really good about is they allow 2 birth partners as standard, my SIL was even allowed 3 (My bro, my mum and her mum, as that was who she really wanted at the time) as it is up to the MW discretion. My mum was also allowed into my scans with me and DH, and even DD.0

Labour vibes for convent girl, hope it is going well x
Kitkat I am surprised about the scan thing as I know they write it on the letter but normally when you turn up they don't say anything to your face, I took OH and the kids to mine but they went for a little walk (after waiting over an hour) just before I was called so it wasn't an issue but I'm sure they would have let them all in.
I can see the point with a c-section under general though, but can't see why mum cant wait in recovery with OH. I would def say you want her waiting with your OH and a very good explaination of why she can't if they say no. Some people get much better support from their mums than their partners and having them around can be really beneficial, I hope the midwife is better than whoever you spoke to today x
I've still getting some terrible pains in my tummy, I think its trapped wind, but its really trapped. It comes and goes of its own accord, disappeared when I had my lunch today. Hurts more when I'm walking around. I don't think its anything to worry about, at least I hope not but it does really hurt. I've been drinking peppermint tea incase it is the wind thing. I'm not constipated but do feel bloated when it hurts. Midwife a week on tuesday, if it gets no worse I'll speak to her about it then.0 -
Oh poo... I think the nesting phase has begun!!
I suddenly developed an urge to scrub the bathroom... it is now twinkly.. and the loo... and I have my eye on the landing again.. which means furniture shuffling!
Kitkat.. I have mothercare muslins.. they do need a wash before they absorb anything at all though! I even have a couple in the hospital bag!LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
Rach Yay! I remember reading your posts when I first introduced myself to the thread and noticed you had the same due date. How exciting! You seem a lot more organised than me. I need to give myself a kick up the backside.
Forgot to mention in my last post we found out bump is pink, so very excited now to put a gender to her!How many people packed their hospital bag quite early (i.e. around my stage 25+1 weeks)? I'm confused! I guess it is better to be organised.kitkat5566 wrote: »Thanks pigpen and xmas about the muslins, I intend on using them for everything and want to have them to hand so will keep some upstairs, downstairs and in car. My mum has okayed us to order the pushchair...dh needs to pay a bit off the credit card (we're on a 6 month 0% so it's pushing the limit) and then I can order it, fingers crossed the deal is still on midweek :j
In laws mentioned again today about buying us something so I said I'd email them a list of stuff we still need and they can choose something.Mum to gorgeous baby boy born Sept 2010:j0 -
merfe - i swear (as does pigpen) by windeeze - safe to take in preg and great at sorting trapped wind which I suffered from even when not pg.
In terms of birth partners, if I have a section I may need my mum (or failing that mil) as dh is incredibly squeamish and doesn't know if he'd cope, mum is also a nurse. What I am clear about is that dh is kept informed, not like my poor BiL who was left alone in a room not knowing if his wife and/or child were going to make it and having no idea what was going on.
I am lucky to have a lovely mil, she came with me this morning when i was taking a service at a local church and is lovely to me.Mum to gorgeous baby boy born Sept 2010:j0
