Hazzie, it's just repeating what the others have said, but take care of yourself. As rotten as it may sound, the dead can wait, and your little baby needs to be born. I hope, like others have said, that you and OH have a support system in place, siblings, other family, MiLs friends and such. Please look after yourselves as much as possible, you must both be feeling incredibly overwhelmed, at what should be such a special time for you.

I've been mega lucky with iron tablets - just been getting the 'other' side effect of them, nice.

Hazzie - so sorry for yours and OH's loss, especially at this time. Stay put vibes for today. Hope you can get help sorted for next week. Take care of yourself and baby.

Labour vibes to whoever wants them.

I've missed loads of births since I last posted so congratulations to all of you!!

I'm feeling shattered today. I've no idea how those of you who already have kids manage, I'm finding this pregnancy malarky really tiring so I've huge respect for anyone looking after a family as well.

Fernlie & Pigpen - can I ask you a question please as experienced washable nappy users? Sorry if this has already been answered in the past but I can't remember if it has. When you wash the nappies do you add sterilising powder to the wash? And what temperature do you wash at? I have those eco balls for our washing plus vanish for any stains, but I'm wondering if nappies need something more heavy duty. Thanks!

I dry pail mine.. few drops of tea ree or lavendar oil.. or not.. my memory isn't so good.

Nappies straight from bucket to machine.. I do use a prewash, then a 40'C wash with ordinary wash powder and a splosh of white vinegar in the fabric conditioner drawer.

I did have a couple that were VERY stained after 3 users so I soaked them in strong bleach solution for a couple of hours and washed on a 60 and they came up almost like new.. but I only did it the once.

xmas- yay for your OH job!

gena- I mainly wash the same as pigpen, dry pail, the 40 wash with a prewash, and use powder and white vinegar. However when my DD had nappy rash (not nappy related but I wanted to make sure it didn't get worse) I washed on a 90 wash, it was as a precaution though and in no way necessary!

Best way to bleach them is to hang them in the sun on the line, like pigpen I have on 2 occassions bleached nappies in a weak bleach solution. Once with a load of prefolds, then just washed with an extra rinse cycle, they came up great. And once on a shaped nappy that was badly stained down to my DH wrapping it in a carrier bag when he took DD out for the day, and it getting lost in the boot of the car!!! I was missing a nappy for ages and couldn't work out where it got to, he of course denied all knowledge, then I found it in the boot, it was gross though thankfully only wee'd in. I soaked it in bleach but between the ammonia from the wee, the mould, and the bleach the elastic was done for and it was ruined!!

Big labour vibes to us overdue ladies, I actually feel less like I'm about to have a baby than I did before my due date. I have loads of things planned this week to hopefully jinx it into coming, but from experience I know it will only come when ready. I have a sweep booked for Fri and I am going to buy some homeopathic remedies later though as I want to try everything. I'm doing clary sage massage and baths, bouncing on my ball, DTD, RLT, pineapple, walking lot's, walking up and down stairs sideways, and accupressure so hopefully something works soooooooon! :)
