This one isn't too far only half an hour (of course I'm designated driver!) but we have one when I'll be 8 months gone and it's a full mass - 3 hours drive then an hour and a half on a wooden church bench  I'm tempted not to go but it's OH's best friends so we have to really. I might just take a cushion!

Have you thought about a blind? That second site does kits so you just cut the pole to size and you'll use less fabric.
This wedding is a uni friend of mine, DH doesn't know anyone so will be grumpy about going I know...despite tehe fact he has said yes we'll go there will be a scene the night before...

I really want curtains I think as then I can take them if/when we move. DH was talking this morning about buying somewhere even if it's just a flat (previously he said only a house) becauae we're spending 11k a year on rent  I need to properly measure but think I'll just fork out for it, i've had so many bargains!
Sorry to everyone who's having problems with men - sometimes I think it would be good to give them a taste of what it's like to be pregnant for a few days, might make them a bit more considerate...
absolutely...thought mine was annoying today but seems I have got off lightly...DH found a bit was missing when starting to put the cot together...was also moaning about the cot as he doesn't like it (thinks it looks cheap as its not a solid oak or something one...don't they all? it is a bit orangey pine but i think once up will be fine). Anyway in the end I went to B&Q and managed to get the little metal dowel bit...looks like it will fit ok. He has moved the wardrobe and other stuff around and hoovered the baby's room (and the rest of the flat in fact so I can't really complain!)

MEN say it brings on labour.. everyone else has a brain and knows baby comes in its own sweet time!
    :rotfl::rotfl:

Also re men and BF - don't think dh would have a go at me either way to be honest, thankfully. I am determined to feed but I know it just doesn't happen sometimes, my sister had to give up as she was so ill. But THEY CAN HAVE A GO...CLICKY!

I went to asda to pick up the cot quilt and blanket, they are a nice yellow with jungle characters on. Returned the blankets as they were cotton pram sized ones and I wanted bigger ones really. Also returned the recalled sleepsuits, will get some plain white ones from Sainsburys for half the price i think!

Hello all! Im sorry for not getting back to you but I had a 60 HOUR LABOUR!:eek::eek::eek::eek:

I am now mummy to Ayana, born 5:55pm on 10/09/10. Pics should be here http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=219625&l=e7089d8e38&id=751350241 Feel free to add me as a friend but make sure I know who you are! :)

Issues at the beginning with waters breaking slowly, then possible risk of infection because the nurse refused to believe they had gone despite me showing her two soaking pads (that was Tuesday)! I nearly went for her! She left me in the antenatal ward all night, having contractions every 5 mins so by the morning, I was !!!!!!ed and only 3cm dilated. Because they had to put me on antibiotic drip, whole labour was on the bed... :(

But never mind because shes a beautiful, calm and peaceful baby.

Will post more when ive got time, labour vibes- quick ones- to those who need them!

kikat.. I have had my hospital bag sitting empty in the bedroom for the last week.. so far the only thing it has had in it... is a small snoozing cat! I have stolen my daughters vanity case thing to stuff things for coming home in which can go in the box with the car seat.. see that's planned just not carried out! I know WHAT I am putting in each bag.. it is just the act of doing it I am yet to master. I have maybe 4-5 weeks if I am lucky.. *runs around the room in a blind panic*.. how did it come round so darn fast?!?!?! I did mine in labour with a few of them.. it gives you something else to think about. I can't put stuff like nighties in yet as I need them.. ditto underwear, toiletries bag etc..

Tell you what shall we go do some bits now? I only have to move about 6ft lol

It is 13 years since I had a summer baby.. as well as a vest, sleepsuit hat and cardy.. it it worth putting in a jacket to bring baby home? I will have a blanket too.. but it is literally hospital door to car.. 10ft... car to house 10ft... I TRIED speaking to OH for an opinion and got snapped at.. I am thinking just take one and don't use it is if don't need to.. BUT.. I haven't bought one.. and I don't really want to waste money on a jacket which will be barely/not used if I can help it.

I am taking a jacket just incase. I am the same as you though and didn't want to waste money on something that might not even get used so I looked on ebay for newborn jackets and won a white velour jasper conran one. Its very sweet and cost me about £1 including postage, but I wouldn't have spent anymore. I washed it the other week and its come up lovely, really nice and soft, and if it doesn't get worn I'm not too fussed over £1!

Michelle: CONGRATS! Baby Ayana is gorgeous! I have sent you a friend request if you dont mind, my first name is Kat :p

Pigpen: I have got the case in the living room.. and thats as far as I have got!!! I am still trying to work out what I have ready to go in; maternity pads, breast pads, toothbrush, tooth paste (these were a multibuy so I have 'spares' that will stay in the case!), moist loo wipes

For baby's bag; few sleepsuits, few baby grows, a jacket, blanket, nappies, cotton wool, baby wipes.

What I am missing; 2 x nighties, my going home outfit, dressing gown, shampoo/ cond, showergel, ipod, charger, camera, batteries

Am I missing anything else vital?!?
