I was also going to ask about washing. I will be dry pailing but fernlie do you use non-bio or bio? I've read quite a bit about how in other countries non bio doesn't even exist.Mum to gorgeous baby boy born Sept 2010:j0

CAFC - although i have no baby experience my vote is for short (but then i've just gone for short myself!).
I'm really tempted by short again.....
my hairs about shoulder length now, and its lost all shape so quickly and Im just slinging it up every day, which makes me feel grotty.....
If I have short hair, im forced to make an effort with it...... plus hair dye doesnt look so washed out so quickly, nor does it take so long......Wealth is not measured by currency0 -
CAFC i would go for long every time, the trouble with short hair is that if you don't make an effort it (if anything like my hair) will stick out in crazy angles and not look good, also will take very regular cutting to stay looking good.
Whereas long hair can very quickly ie after giving birth, just got up, not slept all night, be tied up into a very neat ponytail or bun ready for the constant photo's and or visitors without you looking crazed.
Oh and it won't matter if you can't have it cut for ages.I don't get nearly enough credit for not being a violent psychopath.0 -
I am sticking with my long hair i can tie it back then. I cut it short just before having bubs and he still managed to pull it and get sick in it so i personally dont think it makes a difference. Cafc looking at your picture you do look good with short hair so if it makes you feel more comfy then go for it it will always grow back again :-):jFriends are like fabric you can never have enough:j0

Yay moneysaver welcome to team blue. Thanks Gena for the welcome to team blue!! Hopefully bubs will stay for a while longer (but not too long) but I'm looking forward to reaching the milestone too.
CAFC I would go with long hair too, growing mine at the mo too and know will be easier just to tie it up if haven't got time to wash it!!
Rach I'm sure you will be squirming with bubs moving soon. Mine is starting to get to the stage of keeping me awake and I know it will get stronger (nearly 23 weeks). Really having probs sleeping at the mo, bubs starts moving when going to sleep so takes a while then keep waking up about 5/6ish and don't really settle. So glad it is friday tomorrow :j:jThomas born 28/08/2010 weighing 5lbs and 4ounces, small but perfectly formed :j:j Now weighs 19lbs and 5 ounces

great news tinks. come and join us on here now!!
I was a bit naughty today. went to a work related event and as it was a bit pants I left early and nipped into townexchanged an unopened pack of M&S knickers for a bigger size, got some bits from 99p shop and had a look at disposeable nappies in boots to get my free bag. Didn't get in the end as worked out if I made a list I could use the £5 off £20 spend voucher at the same time
I will be using real nappies but am wondering how many disposeables to get? Literally have no idea!!
am a bit worried that I'm still not really feeling movements. Sometimes I think I do but then I just went for a poo (still constipated boo) and what I have been feeling is I'm sure bowel pain/contractions etc. I'm growing and position of bump seems to move so hopefully all is ok but am dreading the scan now (i'm 20+5 now and scan is Monday).
better go and get on with dinner.
rach - I didnt feel DD1 until I was about 22 weeks:heartpuls baby no3 due 16th November :heartpulsTEAM YELLOWDFD 16/6/10"Shut your gob! Or I'll come round your houses and stamp on all your toys" The ONE, the ONLY, the LEGENDARY Gene Hunt :heart2:0 -
thanks all. I'm sure I am feeling a bit, but not kicks or anything really - just squirming.
sir monster you weren't on the 9.22 train out of EC this morning were you? I happened to be on it as going up to town and there was another preg lady, wondered if by some small chance was you!
have come to bed as need an earlier night, I am also waking early. DH went off to the spare room at 5am this morning as I was snoring and on my back (had slipped off the pillow too so not good). only really dozed after that, I was boiling! I haven't had a fleece or cardi on all day, just a short sleeved top...long hot summer ahead!Mum to gorgeous baby boy born Sept 2010:j0 -
morning ladies,
Rach I agree with everyone else, I didn't feel bubs move until after my 22 week scan, and hubby still cant feel him - have found the best way to stop bubs fidgeting is to get OH to put hand on my belly!
CAFC its the long hair vote for me as well, as it can be very quickly tied up out of the way.
You ladies make me feel really bad, as I am going with disposable nappies. As this is our first and have no idea what we are doing, we decided that trying to work out resuables was too difficult.
quick question for you knowledgeable people. Changing nappies. OH wants to keep a changing stand downstairs, so to save time and effort going upstairs to the nursery and to have one of those changing mats that fit on top of the cot. I don't think having a changing stand in front room is quite right. What do you lot do? OH has a bad back so reckons the changing stand will stop him bending over to do it on the floor.0 -

Seems we have similar bedtimes for our oldies:) Mine are a bit younger though so have to be supervised (badgered) into going to bed!!
One benefit to having an older child is a live in babysitter (when they are old enough);)ok ladies.....
what do we think is the best option for hair....?
As in once you've had baby, would a short style which takes little washing, and a bit of product, but yet sticks up in the morning (and all day without a bit of said product) but yet doesnt need tying back and less likely to get baby sick in it, be better than keeping hair say shoulder length, being able to just tie it back, but yet likelihood is you would just tie it up for days and never really bother with it because it takes time to dry/straighten etc?
Im trying to figure out what to do with my hair!
I had mine cut really short just before K was born, so about Jan/Feb last year....never again! It looked hideous if I didn't spend time on it, and even though it didn't need that long spending somedays I was so shattered/busy I just didn't get time. I would opt for long enough to tie back EVERY TIME:)
I am currently trying to grow mine long as it is naturally curly, although I always straighten it, I would like to have the option of curls. It has to be pretty long to look decent curly though:)

Don't feel bad....I have never used cloth nappies and this is baby 4... I am definitely not the mother earth type, I use dipsoables, I formula feed, and am a cry it out type of mum (within reason) I also believe in letting baby get used to being on own i.e not attached to me.......
As for changing table...there is NO WAY i would ever be bothered going upstairs to change a baby. The only time they ever get changed in the bedroom is after a bath or when still night feeding and then only if the nappy is stinky of very wet, otherwise it gets left on.
If you can fit the changing table downstairs it might be a good idea, or could you just sling a changing mat on the sofa.....I tend to sit on the floor with baby inbetween my legs so not really much bending needed, plus as they become mobile I would never want to risk changing anywhere other than on the floor!!!
Not much help sorry.....
