Nene i can only go from personal experience but my second and third were not anywhere near as bad as my first. I found that I blew everything out of all proportion when i was due the second one in my minds eye i thought i was never going to be able to cope but its amazing how our bodies remember what they have to do and how much better you cope when you know what to expect :-)
Delain he is more than likely worried about letting you down in some way or another and is worried he wont measure up i wouldnt take it personally its just a trait men have i think. Have you sat down with him to do your birth plan so he knows what you want and can express your wishes for you, pander to his ego a little and make him feel super important ( which he obviously is but men need it spelling out sometimes) :-):jFriends are like fabric you can never have enough:j0 -
Gill your little man is so gorgeous and what a lovely head of blonde hair he has my second one was a blondie bombshell but unlike yours you couldnt see it so he looked bauled until he was about 2 :-):jFriends are like fabric you can never have enough:j0

No worries there :rotfl: He did tell me he was choosing baby's name bless him. She will be Chloe
There's not much to measure up to and he knows it, i think he's just upset that Im thinking about it, IYSWIM.
He definitely won't turn up drunk, pass out on my hospital bed after shouting at me for not using reusable nappies because it's oh-so-easy and have to be thrown out by a midwife and security at 11pm
OH is thankfully way too nice for any of that palaverMum of several with a twisted sense of humour and a laundry obsession:o

Is that because we're a bit more loose and flapping in the wind so I just sneeze and she'll come out?:rotfl:

Best one I heard, from a friend of mine talking about a pub crawl when I'm not pregnant anymore:

Cafc - this is my 2nd but I'm with you on the nervous thing, a girl in my work explained it best when she said 'I was in the lift on the way out the door of the hospital with the baby, expecting someone to stop me and say you don't know how to look after a baby, you can't take him home' This sums up how I felt. As others have said just like everything else your faced with in life you manage, sometimes your hair doesn't get brushed, sometimes the floor doesn't get mopped, sometimes it's 3 o'clock and you haven't had breakfast but you manage and the first few weeks ( months ) are a blur cos so many people coming round, so little sleep and so much to do. My advise would be do all you can do before the baby comes, when the baby does come leave the things that can be left and relax in a years time you'll wonder exactly how you filled your time without little bean.
Also all the cliches ( sp )- sleep when the baby sleeps
- get guests to make the coffee, bring the milk or make the dinner
- have the freezer full of emergency supplies
- have the midwife/health visitor on speed dial
- don't feel guilty if the house isn't immaculate ( babies are messy, blame the baby )
- try to get into a routine asap stretching out feeds etc
- let hubby do what he can
- I used to relax in the bath with baby on the floor in a bouncer
- put a note on the door & take out the phone when your trying to sleep
- allocate windows of time for guests
Busy mum of 3, so if my posts don't make sense or ask a silly question be patient:rotfl:0 -
LOl nene I wish god I would have half a dozen more he they came out like that.
Oh and if anyone is worried about everything being loose afterwards I recommend love balls just be careful what type you get as some can set off security alarms in the shops :-):jFriends are like fabric you can never have enough:j0 -
I am absolutely terrified about being pregnant, I am worried that I will eat/ drink the wrong things and cause problems with my baby, I am also scared that if I get too depressed will this affect the baby, I am TERRIFIED about the labour, I have started reading a hypnobirthing book but its still early days, but I think I may need hypnosis when the time comes for labour, I just am so scared. I am very scared about being a mum too, none of my close friends have babies, there are no young children in my family, I have never babysat a child, and I am just so scared! So I am distracting myself by looking for lovely baby bargains
Received my blooming marvelous jeans, I wish I would have ordered size 12 now! Size 14 is massive! And the size 16, I havent even looked at yet! But I am sure I will grow into them, very good quality for £3 anyway, well impressed! Also received my FREE baby jacket from littlewoods (very nice) and the grobag egg! Our house is dangerously hot apparently! Great!0 -

Actually on that note, because I'm over 35 I'm on consultant led care instead of midwife apparently. Not sure what difference that makes? I've had my 1st scan but am I supposed to book up appointments with midwife or do they do it? My 20wk scan is all booked - not sure if there is anything n-between I should be doing
I'm also on consultant led care, but that's because I have diabetes (pre-existing, not gestational). I'm there for either pregnancy diabetes monitoring once a fortnight and ante-natal once every 4 weeks.
I'm guessing that how often they want to see you depends on the reason for you being consultant led, but each time I go, the consultant tells me to make another appointment in x weeks time, so hopefully once you see the consultant they should let you know... However, for what it's worth, the only thing I know they do between 12-20 week scans is the blood test that screens for Down's etc., so if you want to have that done I'd have thought you should be able to legitimately 'phone the hospital/midwife and ask for an appointment for this.
Don't know if this helps...0 -
I've not had a proper read through, just skimmed as need to sleep and it has been a long day, but...
gill - congrats, what a beautiful little boy and lovely name
I am also pg for the first time and am more scared about the birth than anything! I think I'll be a good mum and have quite a bit of experience with little ones, but never been the one who's there in the night if you know what I mean. But giving birth really petrifies me.
My big bundle of ebay stuff for £9 incl postage came, includes 3 pairs little trousers and tops, vests and babygros (need to check how many!), a jacket and hat. Promised DH I won't buy any more now as my mum also picked up some long sleeved vests and sleepsuits the other day so when she's here we'll go through and size it all and work out what we need (I want to do it now but I know mum would love to help and I don't see her much!)
My sister also sent me 2 pairs of maternity combats, think they;ll be too big for now but hopefully with a bump band will do for walking on holiday next week, no time to get anything else really.Mum to gorgeous baby boy born Sept 2010:j0
