morning everyone,
thank you again for all your messages of support.
I have had a major breakthrough with OH with regards to this silly motorbike business. He has now decided to sell his bike and buy a second hand one for cash!:j:j I know that this probably doesnt sound like a big deal, but I cannot tell you how relieved I am. I feel like a huge weight has been lifted. During one of our rows over the weekend, OH told me that I am not allowed to sell DD's clothes on ebay. He said for the sake of a few quid, its not worth it. You will take her things to the charity shop. Who the hell does he think he is!!!?? So I 'played along' and said yeah yeah yeah, but I am still going to go ahead with my selling. Although we both use the ebay account its in my name anyway! flaming cheek. So last night, I changed the password!:rotfl::rotfl: and told him he has now got limited access!!!!
See how he likes it!
Still going ahead with the bank account, thats not changing. I feel alot more positive today, and my cold is finally going.
My only regret is what DD went thru at the weekend, I hope and pray to god that she doesnt end up with too many mental scars. I should have done more to protect her, but in my defence I am very petite and OH is like, 13 stone! perhaps I should have hit him over the head with a pan or something.
Oh well, sun is shining here, off to prepare for my course now.

Stay positive, JC. I don't know how old your daughter is, but children can be quite resilient, and once you and she are living separately from him she will be able to put the weekend's incident in the past and move on. Something like that should not ruin someone's life for ever, she has many years ahead of her to live and become a success in whatever she decides to do. You too have years ahead to enjoy - it will be hard going through what you have to go through, but you will look back on it one day and although there will be some grieving for the good bits of your relationship, there will be no regrets for leaving the bad bits. One life - your life - live it!0

JC I have a basic account with Natwest, I changed to them when I was considering a DMP, I have found them to be fine. I think all banks are fine as long as you run the account well, it's only when you have financial problems and need their help they show their true colours!LBM Aug 09: £18,650.47 - Current: £12,854.93 (£5946.79)

hiya woowoo, thanks for stopping by.
We are all fine now. DD seems to have gotten over the weekend and hasnt mentioned it anymore.
I did look at Natwest online, LillythePink suggested I get a basic bank account with my own bank. My only concern with that is, where we are constantly in our overdraft, I am worried that they will take monies from other accounts to pay for it! this would be a disaster. Does anyone know if the banks can do that???? I will be keeping our joint account open still for OH, that is to be his spending money account.
Not much else going on here really, althought I must confess, I almost feel like a calmness has come over me. dont know why. maybe its because I am now taking control of my life.
I feel pretty good today, which is something that I have not felt in a long time.
Off to get ready for my course now. have a good day everyone xLBM: April 2009 - honest debt figure: Secured: £0.00!! (paid back april 2017) unsecured: £53117.48 (roughly) back with CCCS starting again:(0 -
Hi JC I am 99% certain that if you have 2 accounts with the same bank they can move money between them if for instance you weren't paying your overdraft charges etc. This is why when you start a debt management plan u are advised to open a new account with a bank that has no links to your current bank.
Safest option would be to use a new bank, this is what I did. I opened a Natwest Account, I owe Lloyds £2900 on an overdraft but I transfer the interest charge every month and they seem to be happy with this and have not asked me to repay the overdraft, probably as they make £25 per month on interest from me lol!LBM Aug 09: £18,650.47 - Current: £12,854.93 (£5946.79)

Hi JC- yes they can take money from one account to put in another,it's happened to me!!
I'd keep it separate, i've heard good things about the basic nat west acc - i often have to refer people in my job to open basic acc and we always send them to either nationwide, natwest or barclays...0 -
thanks Choc-addict and Woowoo. I think I will go for the Natwest bank account. The only reason why it was suggested that I open a basic bank account with my bank is cos I am not telling OH about it.
Lillythepink suggested that if I went with my bank, then if OH got suspicious I could then just show him the account details and say its just for bills you see. But I am not going to let my bank take my money! So I will open an account elsewhere.
Thanks for the advice guys, its appreciatedLBM: April 2009 - honest debt figure: Secured: £0.00!! (paid back april 2017) unsecured: £53117.48 (roughly) back with CCCS starting again:(0
