Well done Hex - that has really inspired me.
Woke up this morning and thought this is wonderful - sun shinning in bedroom and no dust - I blitzed it yesterday.Teasmaid was quiet due to descalling with vinegar. Openned wardbrobe - got out pilates mat and book (for first time since owning them) which were neatly at the front did 10 minutes exercise then put them away! Openned drawer took out neatly folded clothes. Showered in sparkling bathroom. Went downstairs and   I have not tackled downstairs yet apart from the kitchen. OH is decorating one room so you can imagine what the others are like! I know baby steps. I intend to do a quick swipe round bathroom/toilet/kitchen to keep on top of what I have done and tackle DS3 bedroom and start downstairs tomorrow .
Have just got my first bottle of stardrops and an additional microcloth from ASDA oh and more white vinegar. The birds of sadness may fly overhead but don't let them nest in your hair0 -
Well done Hex, :T :j . you should feel really good about yourself at what you have achieved:A .
Over the past couple of weeks I sorted out lots of clutter and had piles of "stuff" to get rid of. Did a carboot yesterday and got £112 for it all. What was left has gone to charity shop and house is much more organised without it all. My new "rule" for myself is to try and stop accumulating it in the first place, have to admit I can now appreciate the few "nice" things that i have without the clutter.
Tonight i need to do some filing and paperwork as i have noticed a little hot spot developing near the puter so need to stamp on it before it gets a grip.
Tomorrow night I intend to attack the worst clutterbox in the house - my wardrobe. I can't even open the door without being attacked by stuff leaping off the shelf or sliding out of the bottom,i have not seen the bottom of the wardrobe (or several pairs of shoes for over a year) and I know there are many pressies hidden in there that I bought and put away and forgot about. So who knows what i may find.
Anyone else got a deviant wardrobe like this, I really hate it. Anyone know any good tips for sorting and storing?I INTEND TO BE VERY RUTHLESS:rolleyes:
OH despairs at my wardrobe, he is ex army/police and it shows. Open his wardrobe and you get a rail of shirts and a rail of trousers all hung in colour shades, and a shelf of folded t shirts and sweaters arranged by colour too!!!!!
Shoes at the bottom all polished and a box of shoe cleaning stuff. He can put together an outfit in 5 minutes down to matching socks etc, I keep wearing the same stuff cos it hangs in the middle of the rail and I can snatch it out of the wardrobe quickly before the rest escapes.:rotfl: :rotfl:
OH is very impressed with flylady so far but says he will crown her supreme champion if I can conquer the wardrobe monster.
Maybe I should just chuck everything out and start again:rotfl: :rotfl:
ANY SUGGESTIONS???

Thanks everyone. I am eternally grateful for the original mention on OS about Flylady that made me change my attitude, and the ongoing support of threads like this that keep me focused.
It has taken months to do clearing out the long term junk very slowly. Having got the bulk out of the way it has got steadily easier to do as things have gone along. You simply have to keep on top of it.
I banned myself from sitting down at the laptop till we are all dressed, the house starts tidy, the dishwasher is emptied, the washing machine is on, nappies and animals are done. My lovely boys like to get up for 6am and I am not a morning person so it has taken a significant change in approach.
It is still clean! Took me ten minutes after they had gone to bed to put everything straight, and then I dont go to bed till everything is ready for the morning. We can and will maintain this now!'If you have a garden and a library, you have everything you need' Marcus Tullius Cicero0 -
Amazing Hex! WELL DONE!!!!
I've fallen by the wayside for a few days. Did too much and suffered - so I ought to try to get back on track. Depression not helping at the moment - too darn LONELY here during the dayAh well, ever the optimist, I'll get over it I suppose.
Hugs to all you flyladies,

well the wardrobe monster is still untackled.I just didn't know where to start
. But there is hope yet, I found a site Organized Home.com which gives lots of tips for sorting out cupboards and sorting storage etc. Once i have digested this I will draw up a cunning plan to defeat the wardrobe monster.
Rest of house is doing well, and i am finding it easy to keep on top of it just doing a bit each day.Hope everyone else is doing okay.
justin - mind you don't overdo it with the flylady stuff.Take care.:D

Hi Sophiesmum. I have done my wardrobe this week - I must say I quite enjoyed the experience. I can tell you how I did mine but it might not apply to you.
1. Removed all the stuff from the top of the wardrobe and hooved up dust ready to store xmas pressies.
2. Removed all stuff from the base of wardrobe and hoovered.
3. Removed all clothes that I have not worn in the last month.
4. Sorted clothes left in wardrobe (worn in last month) into tops one end and bottoms the other and then by colour.
5. Tried on all the stuff I had not worn. Put back those items I will wear and charity shopped the rest - already gone so no going back.
6. Put back rest of clothes as mentioned in 4.
5. Sorted all the stuff in the bottom; for me, toiletries bags/box of sock/sewing maching/books/pilates mat and put back neatly.
It looks great now and when i put laundry away today I did it neatly and in the correct places. I am now using my pilates mat each day (never done this before) as it is easy to get to and dust free!
Hope this helps. I feel that we all have places which we find harder to sort than others - for me it is the family/computer room - I am leaving this to last as I find it hard to decide which toys to get rid of - I think they might play with that and hate sorting paper work etc.
Good luckThe birds of sadness may fly overhead but don't let them nest in your hair0 -
I finally have my housework head back on after the summer hols and the last trip done.
The living room is gutted, all magazines sorted through and binned, coffee table washed and polished, DD's outdoor drawers tidied (bamboo drawer unit filled with shoes and hats and gloves) and sorted so everything too small binned, hoovering and dusting done (even tops of pictures and mirrors) and all books tidied away.Organised people are just too lazy to look for things

I am going to get some cards - probably old greetings cards, hole punch the tops, put treasury tags through. On each one it will have the name of a room, so I will turn the card over each day and that will be my room to tackle for that day.
DDs bedroom is now free of clothes that no longer fit!
Got to do the same with both ds's.
Put all the beach towels in a storage bag to go in the airing cupboard, so just the plain towels are in the bathroom.
Took some clothes to a dress agency, so hopefull they will sell and I can get MORE storage bags LOL:)
Got some great clear plastic shoe boxes so my shoes can be even more organised, although they already have several shelves in a cupboard to themselves...;)Member no.1 of the 'I'm not in a clique' group :rotfl:

Hello again! I'm wanting to put our summer clothes into storage over the winter. Does anyone have any suggestions on what sort of storage solutions there are, and where I can buy them without spending a fortune?
Many thanks, Penny. x:rudolf: Sheep, pigs, hens and bees on our Teesdale smallholding :rudolf:0
