  • Hi, all!

    Jobs for today:

    Kitchen floor (again!)
    Ironing (again!)
Clean all surfaces and windows in bathroom
    Dust and sweep our bedroom
Sort toys in DD and DS's rooms - they'll be doing that!

Then off out for a nice afternoon with friends and their children, then back to friend's house - she's made chilli for all of us, and I'm taking weetabix cake and wine!

I have cleaned out toddlers bedroom - hard work with two little helpers! Despite copious freecycling a few months ago I still can't fit everything in their toyboxes. My main indulgence is buying stuff for my boys. Taken another big bag out. Last night I did under step sons bed and took another black bag out of there. This need to hoard is obviously genetic! I have to wait till their Dad is away to clear his stuff out.

My recent activities mean the trailer is full yet again so OH will be off to the tip tomorrow. What I dont understand is how I can do so much work and get rid of so many things and still have a cluttered house.

    Need a bigger house!

To quote from Don Aslett in "Is there life after housework?":
As the Law of the Squirrel goes, "Junk will accumulate proportionately to the storage room available for it."

So a bigger house would just mean more junk!
  • I just joined.

I set my timer for 15 mins and i got all this done.

    Washed up
Put a load of washing in WM
    put BM on
    Put SC on

Amazing what you can get done in 15 mins.

I am now sweating and sitting down with a cold glass of water.

    Hello everyone!

FunkyFairy well done on getting so much done in 15 mins - it's so true that in just that little bit of time you can get achieve a lot if you just put your mind to it!

Denise...I am not so fond of the phone either...I much prefer email or face to face. If you've got a collection of calls to make then you could do the 15 minutes thing on Monday for them, get them all out of the way all at once.

Chipps..it's so true what you say about space, ie you just accumulate stuff to put into it. My last place was a 1 bedroom flat, now I've a 3 bedroom house...I nearly fell over when I heard myself tell somebody I don't have enough space. I've got about four times more space than ever before! Stuff just spreads. I really want flylady to help me sort this problem out. Hex, I hope you can get your boys things sorted out - "less is more" as they say.

elaine...are you at the summit yet??

I managed quite a bit yesterday though not as much as I fantasized about doing. The bloke came today and fitted my blinds:T - they look fab btw - but he showed up quite a bit earlier than planned, so he saw my terrible untidy office. He got a nice big cheque from me, so I expect he's thinking about that rather than my messy environment:rotfl:. I really do need to crack on and tidy this office up. There are credit card bills in the piles - I pay by direct debit thus avoiding bank charges - but my hate of the phone has caused me to not cash in some shares I have to pay off some of the credit card debt I have. How dumb am I? (yes I know, the answer is "very!").

So, my flylady agenda for the weekend is:
    • swish and wipe in the bathroom
    • dust and vacuum in my bedroom + change/wash bed linen
    • thin out some stuff from bedroom no 2 - managed to chuck lots away yesterday, so it's looking better, but still lots of room for improvement
    • file some papers in my office
    • prepare all clothes and footwear for next week at work. It's so much easier when it's all done by Sunday evening!
Moggins - hope you're walking normally again! Smile, when you wobble, it'll make people wonder what was so much fun...

    Bye all

LOL, I wish it was something exciting that was making me wobble :D Even mum noticed how bad I was today. Never mind, I have one free day tomorrow to get stuff done. Then Sunday it all starts again. I'm looking forward to September just to have a rest :D

I cheated! I went out and bought another big toy box so I can at least stash all of their stuff neatly. The trouble is the things that are left are all expensive ones, lots of imagination based toys that should do them for a few years yet. I learnt my lesson early on with expensive baby toys that get six months play. I now need to just not buy them anything at all for a while. My OH will be ROFL if he reads that.

I know what you are saying about a bigger house, we moved here from a one bed flat as well, and this was the amalgamation of two families. I collect secondhand books (used to work in a second hand bookshop years ago) and my OH collects tools. I have been totally ruthless with everything else but these remain as a bulky problem, even after as much thinning out as I could make myself do.

Moggins, hope you are feeling better.

Thanks all, DH is being a real help this morning by hoovering all through for me, the hips are still playing up but I'm determined that at least the bathroom and toilet are going to get a good going over today. I'm going to get it all done by tea time as DH is going out and I want to do some baking this evening whilst he's gone.

    Hi everyone
Had a busy few days at work and not got much flying done in the evenings but house is still quite clean from earlier flying so not much to do to catch up.Everyone else seems to be getting lots done , well done all of you:A :T .
This afternoon I have made some blackberry and apple pies and a crumble for the freezer, and still got enough left to make a batch of blackberry, apple and pear jam tonight. went blackberrying with my os mum yesterday and picked about 10lbs each of berries. Nobody around here seems to bother with them. Also found two elderberry trees nearby so intend to get some of them and make chutney etc when they are ready.still lots of blackberries left so just may have to go again in next few days, can't stand thought of them being wasted:eek:
Must also buy some new wooden spoons next time I go shopping as three of mine are now a lovely shade of purple:rotfl: :rotfl:
Tonight i intend to do some filing and sorting of household bills etc, will keep OH occupied for an hour as he insists on being in charge of the shredder:rolleyes: , talk about boys toys.
After that i think a bottle of wine and a dvd will be on the cards.:j
