Boohoo! My first 4/5!
'slightly mouldy on the top of the book' Images of white fur come to mind...
I have to say it must have only been a slight mildew mark or something, because I failed to spot it while I read the bookMy TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j0 -
A big thank you for all your help. I have just listed my first 6 wierd paperbacks. Reading the first post.....I have lots of hardbacks, mainly craft books. Is it worth listing these on Amazon? or am I better off just taking them to the tip?
(I've de cluttered my house, apart from the loft which is where all these books are - one way or another they have to go)
Advice please.0 -
Hi ASG, well done on getting started, the only advice I can give about the craft books is to search them on Amazon and if they have a selling price of over, say £6 or £7, they will be worth listing, anything less and you will be a bit disappointed after you've taken off your post and packing costs, unless they are quite thin and light that is.
edited with an example - if you sold your book for £6 you'd be given £6.36. If it's a heavy book as I guess it will be for a craft book then your postage will be around £5 leaving you with £1.36 to use for packing materials and profit0 -
Many thanks apprentice tycoon. Two of the six books I listed this afternoon have sold already, so i'm a happy ASG this evening0

Thanks to this thread I've listed 2 books on Amazon today and more to put on. I cant believe how easy it is to do compared to Ebay.
I bought a load of bubble envelopes from Tesco today, 8 envelopes for £1 but currently on 3 for 2 so 24 envelopes for £2. They are only small ones, dont fit thicker books but great for DVDs, games and smaller books. Now you're going to tell me you can get them cheaper elsewhere lol“A budget is telling your money where to go instead of wondering where it went.” - Dave Ramsey0 -

Poundland does packs of the small jiffy envelopes 10 for £1 and medium sized 8 for £1.
For bigger numbers, the Tesco 3 for 2 seems a better offer.0 -
For some reason there's no Poundland in Bristol, so I wont feel too bad but could do with some of the medium sized envelopes from somewhere. Maybe 99p stores?“A budget is telling your money where to go instead of wondering where it went.” - Dave Ramsey0

I don't have a Poundland (wish I did) but near me Wilko's is pretty cheap. I reckon it's a little under 20p an envelope. My TV is broken!

Hi
The 99p stores also sell cheap jiffy bags not as good value as the poundstore but a good price, and much cheaper than the post office (oh in my green days I actually bought overpriced jiffy bags in the post office counters  ).They also do good prices on thick envelopes and I regularily use their larger brown envelopes as they are about 20 for 99p. Been very sturdy and I just reinforce the corners with sellotape or masking tape- also helps with the large letter/ parcel rules the post office have. They are not normal envelopes but about A4 size brown and quite thick- I bought them in desperation once and have used them ever since with no complaints.
I also once got a good deal at Viking on jiffy bags but got sick of having so many jiffy bags lying around , maybe some others would advise on the best delas at viking etc as I have seen viking mentioned on here ).0 -
I've just bought a total of 450 mail lite bags from Viking in two sizes. (large one and smaller ones), they are doing buy two boxes and get one the same free. Go through Quido for 5% cashback as well.
I used to use ones from the 99p shop but they have now reduced the size considerably and reduced the number from 12 to 8 in a packet. For most paperbacks they are now useless as they are a tadge too small.
The white mail lite ones are good as they are quite skimpy, and might just sneak through as a large letter where a borwn jiffy bag will be too large.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
