  • And I just sold a cd.

These boards are magic or something.
  • I only have about 50 books listed at any one time and I'm selling one or two books every day or every other day which amazes me. Around the £3 or £4 price. Have definitely got the bug. This suits me as I work nearly full time at night!

Have just been given some carrier bags of books and some of them are listed for a 1p. Is it worth listing these if there are lots already at this price. Can I ask what does everyone else do? Is there a number listed at 1p. when you decide it's not worth adding yours?

By the way I just missed a Jill Nice book selling at the Library on Home made Preserves. I think it would have been worth £10 or more if I had got it. One to look out for?

I don't bother with 1p books unless I really think they have a chance to sell. I did list a couple yesterday purely because there were only 2 or 3 sellers at 1p and the rest more realistically at 75p+ . However it is worth remembering that if like me, you are not a pro seller then you'll only get £1.41 for a 1p book. If that book has to go as a package then it is likely to cost £1.39. So if it is a thin book then yes 1p books can make a profit, if it is a larger book, or you have a PO like mine (don't worry I'm not going to whinge about my PO again.....) then it isn't worth it.

Another tip! Look out for books on red setter dogs, apparently they are very difficult to get hold of and some go for massive amounts!

  • Sigh.

The woman I refunded this morning (10.37) is now complaining that its not in her account yet.

Does anyone know how long it takes so I can get her off my back?

    Thanks (fed up)
  • G-man, that's tough over the refund, I don't think that the buyer will see the money you've refunded till she gets her next credit card bill. She'll get an email from Amazon to confirm that you've refunded though

Well, just had to do my first refund (lost in the post).
Great way to end the week and I haven't had any sales all week.
Now going to look at claiming from Royal Mail.

Did you get your buyer to check with their local RM delivery office? If it was a large book and it wouldnt fit through the letterbox then its possible the postie took it away again without leaving a card.

Its quite possible that the book will be returned to you providing there was a return address on the envelope. Thats what happened with my last lost in the post book and on the envelope was written "not called for"
  • It was a PS2 game so would have fitted through a normal letterbox. Does have my address on though so you never know. Only out about £7 but I could do without the hassle.

Thanks to everyone for their help on this thread.

OK I confess, I went back and bought more £1 bags of books, I just couldn't resist!

I have one where the only other copy appears to be on Amazon at £55 as apparently it was a very limited single print run and extremely rare. I really can't see it going for more than 10p though as it is a horrid looking book and a quick glance at the story suggests there was a very good reason why they only did a single small print run

Still, I thought it worth a punt a £40 for a few weeks, see if there really is any takers out there.

I've also bought 450 envelopes from Viking on their 3 for 2 offer, so have a lot of hiding to do before OH gets in this evening :A
