Yes when buying a car the mileage does play a large factor in putting people off.
I agree I saw a audi TT 06 plate Tdi go for £5.500 at glasgow central auctions because it had 80.000
the TT tdi didn't come out till 2008 im sure....work permit granted!0 -
Couldn't you just show us where these cars have not dropped proportionally in value over the last 2 years to demonstrate your theory?
I already have. Facelift e46 coupes for example. 18 months ago you could get one for as cheap as £4,500.
A quick scan of ebays completed auctions shows £6,700, £5,300, £5,800, £7,500, £7,400 and thats ebay where cars tend to sell cheap. How does pew pew explain how these arent selling as cheap as 2/3K by now?!?!
Its not just bmws, look at nissan micras!! My brother got his 04 plate nissan micra from a garage 2 years ago for £2800 with a 1 year warranty. Fast forward 2 years and check out the prices of used nissan micras now...
Used cars of a particular age and type dont necessarily depreciate in value.
The e90 bmw coupes will be at least 13/14K for a couple of years yet and on that basis theres no reason what so ever for the older e46s to drop in value.0 -
No, its the result of not getting through to someone with an incredibly low IQ.
More insults. Absolute classic.Wrong. Its not a vauxhall corsa, its a car with a niche market.
Niche market? There are more 3-series BMWs sold in this country than there are Mondeos! :rotfl:Wrong. We are talking about old cars, they arent subject to the price elasticities of more common/cheaper cars.
Again with the "rare exclusive car" nonsense! :rotfl:Wrong. Naturally they plummet in value over the first few years but then the prices even out. If your remarks were true then why are the older shapes still selling for 10K. Shouldnt they now be valued at 5K!?!?!
The older shapes are advertised for 10k, but only the Ms and similar will be selling for that price. You really are in cloud-cuckoo land. This topic is going nowhere other than giving you a social life so cheerio.
:hello:I'll email you in 2 years to point out that the e90 coupes are still worth 12/13K, not 7K and that the e46 coupes still achieve 4K, not 2k.
I thought you were going?0 -

Because you clearly do have a low IQ. We are talking about 15 year old bmw coupes... not ALL new 3 series sold in recent years. So are the sales really comparable to a ford mondeo.. er... no...
How can anyone have a discussion with you when you continually misunderstand basic statements.
And predictably enough you've completely ignored my post where Ive quoted actual prices. Answer the simple quesiton. How are facelift 6 year old facelift e46 coupes selling for 5-7K when they were being sold at £4,500 18 months ago...0 -
That is not you showing anything. You are just telling us that you think you could have got one cheaply and in your 'eBay' comparison you are in danger of not comparing like with like either. What engine size? What spec?I already have. Facelift e46 coupes for example. 18 months ago you could get one for as cheap as £4,500.
Mileage, condition and history have a part to play in any price sold. What I'd like you to be finding for us to see (for instance) could be what was a trade guide price in April '08 and now for any particular car.
And, to take your torturous comparison literally, there is one on the bay of E here that sold for £2800. That seems to be be a bit of a drop in the price in 2 years....0 -
Im not really interested in the topic enough to bother saying any more than i have already.
The price of used cars went up in 2009, thats a fact. As a result many people will find their used car hasnt depreciate much if at all in the last 18 months.0 -

I thought you'd gone? Maybe your prestige car has broken down...0 -

Or maybe the legitimate owner of it has taken it back..;)0 -
That just means you priced it well - not that the car is especially good or bad...lilac_lady wrote: »I had no problem selling it for the asking price when it was 12 years old.Nothing I say represents any past, present or future employer.0
