My thoughts exactly, perhaps those " admirers " are just having a giggle.;)0 -
Because thanks to the recession the price of most goods plummeted, especially used cars for a period. Back then there was even the odd facelift coupe (53 plate onwards) at the £4,500 mark!! Whereas 18 months later the cheapest e46 facelift coupe I can find on autotrader is £6,500!!!
You look at what your getting for your money and it stands to reason used bmws hold their value. Whole lotta car for 4.5K.
So the reason you think your car will hold its value is because you bought it at the bottom of a recession, and now its value has increased slightly?
Impeccable logic.

Mileage can cripple a cars value more so than damage or condition which can be repaired. If you buy a 7 year old car with 110K on the clock then 2/3 years later no one in the right mind is going to be interested in it when the dash now reads 140K.
Compared with spending literally an extra £500/1000 to get one with 70,000 miles in the knowledge that 2/3 years and 30,000 miles later the car will still be salable.
So to use the example of the earlier generation coupes mileage has more impact on the price than anything else.
Really? I bought my car with 168,000 on the clock, and it cost then more what your car cost you. Guess what, I could still sell it easily.0 -

It isn't worth very much at all if you cannot sell it because there are question marks over it's history and it has had 7 previous owners.

Dont be an !!!!. All coupes have limited rear visability, just because of their shape.
The Scirocco is an exceptionally good and respected car. Something different from the herd for no more than the equivalent golf.0 -

I've simply said in 2 or 3 years time it will still be worth 4K, and it will. Whats so outrageous about that?
I didnt cite the recession as the reason for the car holding its value, I simply said it was a period where many cars sold very cheaply. As a result 18 months later even similar spec 11 year old models with higher mileage are going for 4K.
The forum is riddled with people like yourself you hate the thought of someone getting a good deal.0 -

If I was concerned about trolls like yourself I wouldnt have posted that article here. But Im not so I did.
Face it, I bought a car 18 months ago and its now worth a bit more. How much money have you lost on cars over the years? What a mug :T0 -
It isn't worth " a bit more " because you havn't sold it.
I never buy 7 owner cars, only " mugs " buy them.
Yea I felt like a mug when it passed its mot without any advisories.
Come on- lets hear about some of the cars you've bought over years. Lets hear about the thousands of pounds lost as your cars have depreciated.
Does it pain you to learn some people do their homework, shop around, travel 200 miles to buy a car in an effort to minimise the money you otherwise hemorrhage on the vast majority of newer cars these days.0 -

No, its riddled with people who aren't dreaming about the value of their cars :rotfl:
An E36 BMW is "a prestige car that holds its value", lmfao.0
