Value of VW cars

Why was yours so cheap?
Because thanks to the recession the price of most goods plummeted, especially used cars for a period. Back then there was even the odd facelift coupe (53 plate onwards) at the £4,500 mark!! Whereas 18 months later the cheapest e46 facelift coupe I can find on autotrader is £6,500!!!
You look at what your getting for your money and it stands to reason used bmws hold their value. Whole lotta car for 4.5K.0 -
I am 20 now and I have my first golf now I started with seat ibiza and I cannot say a bad thing about VW they run and run and run The bestI have seen is in my work someone has as a VW 1998 Golf that has done 358.000 miles.
Mines is a 2000 Reg 2 lady owners from new full VW service history 124.000 managed to haggle to 1775
I checked the likes of ebay and they are going for silly money but VW are excellent and it would take alot for me to part with my TDI GolfHis Heart Proved He Was A RedSuarez, SuarezWe Bought The Lad From AmsterdamWe Know He's Not a Chelsea Fan.Fernando Torres = El Judas0 -

Mileage can cripple a cars value more so than damage or condition which can be repaired. If you buy a 7 year old car with 110K on the clock then 2/3 years later no one in the right mind is going to be interested in it when the dash now reads 140K.
Compared with spending literally an extra £500/1000 to get one with 70,000 miles in the knowledge that 2/3 years and 30,000 miles later the car will still be salable.
So to use the example of the earlier generation coupes mileage has more impact on the price than anything else.Pew_Pew_Pew_Lasers! wrote: »
The E46 isn't a prestige car, it never was. They were as common as Ford Mondeos were. You go on kidding yourself though, it's funny to read.
Im not kidding myself- I frequently tell people how common bmws are, pointing out that in recent years the 3 series almost out-sold the mondeo.0 -

.
Crap a Good BMW VW or Mercedes will run many years after they miles.
Fiat and they rest I would not be so confident I have the utmost faith in my Golf and that will do another 124.000 no problem.

Im talking with regards to the cars value as a result of its mileage. Not how well the car will run after high mileage.
ie, hence why I recently saw a 56 plate 5 series for only £7,500... oh wait this doesnt add up!! It should really be 12/13K!!!! Hang on.. it has 210K on the clock...0 -

Sorry I picked you up wrong
Yes when buying a car the mileage does play a large factor in putting people off.
I agree I saw a audi TT 06 plate Tdi go for £5.500 at glasgow central auctions because it had 80.000 on the clock (to me that is nothing) I think that would have been a great buy but due to insurance It would be out my budget.

Its cool. I was tempted to get that 5 series!! It was a top spec too but 200K on the clock was a bit off putting!!
Im keeping an eye on the price of mine because I want to flog it before it starts to really drop in value. I had intended on selling it and trying to get a newer one but it passed its MOT without a single advisory (a very first for me) so I thought i better hang on to it.0 -

German build is a lot to say for cars of that age is it a diesel or petrol.
BMW are a good manufacturer but if something gors wrong it is a fortune. my friend just paid just over £1000 for a new turbo. but 200.000 miles is high you would still get decent money for a full speced one.
my golf is special edition so it has a few fancy cool things and a good history I could make a nice profit but I have fell in love with it.His Heart Proved He Was A RedSuarez, SuarezWe Bought The Lad From AmsterdamWe Know He's Not a Chelsea Fan.Fernando Torres = El Judas0 -

The Scirocco is a fabulous car. I took delivery of a 1.4TSI (160bhp) in March. Yes it has it's drawbacks with rear visibility and very heavy doors but the number of admirers is unbelievable. The car drives superbly and the quality is great. Residuals are brilliant at the moment (I know of people that have traded in after 12 months and lost £500 on the original purchase price). The big drawback is that unless you find a dealer with exactly what you are looking for then you'll have a wait of between 20 and 25 weeks from order. have a look on here http://www.sciroccocentral.co.uk/forum/viewforum.php?f=25 for more info.0 -
