Dont qualify as it's only for completely new customers and our joint account means I'm not "new"

Oh poo - s'pose it's my fault for not realising but gutted as this is the first time I've actually done something like this and it's been for nothing... :(

I just pop in now and then.... :)

I haven't read all the threads so not sure if its been posted before, but I applied for the account to get the free £25. The signed application has been sitting on my desk for a week without being posted.

I reveived a letter from first direct this morning upping the offer to £35 if i open an account before the 31/5/05 and have a credit balance.

Think I might wait another week before I send the form back.

i would take thier hands off mate,i only got £25 ,still cant grumble, they said after 31mar i can withdraw the money as that is the qualifying date, the £25 will be payed some time after that.fingers crossed.
the only thing that p**sed me off a bit was all the bloody questions,i thought at one point they were going to ask me what i had eaten that day!.

    phew!
just finished reading thru the 16 pages of threads to see if my forthcoming question was answered.. it wasnt!

I rang up to sign up today. No problems - app form in post etc.
I don't actually expect to be accepted for the account, being a poor student and all, however, supposing I am accepted, how do I go about closing the account?
Do they have branches I can go into, or is it all over the phone?

    Also, I'm confused:
    How does it work?

New customers who sign up to a First Direct current account over the telephone (0800 24 24 24) and put £100 into the account by the end of March will receive £25 in their account as a bonus.
End of march! ack.. not long then.
However do note you must get the £100 in within three months of the advert date (19th Feb) - not account opening date - to get the £25
    huh?
    hope the latter is true

just the one per person, but you can get family and friends to sign up! ps no existing customers past or present are allowed either!
  • I didn't respond to the £25 offer, then a little while later they upped the offer to £35. Just to open the account with £100 in it at the end of the first month, no salary paid in requirement. Just recieved a text statement - nice feature - showing the £35 credited. I might stick with them - so the promo works.

Also CITYBANK are offering £25 just to open an account. Just sent off details so awaiting outcome but it looks OK. Can't remember whether it was a postal offer or straight from their website.

    So that's £60 for a little admin.
