Let's say someone opens an account and pays in the £100 there and then. From past experience, can anyone give us an indication of how long it takes for the bonus to be credited?
Can the account be closed online or would be another call-centre job?0 -
Hi all. First post on the boards.
I've just phoned up First Direct and they tell me that nothing is coming up on their computer with that promo code. The lady did tell me however that they are also offering that deal through mailshots that are currently going out. She said she could send me some info with the deal on it and that I could then apply by post. I'll go through the Ts and Cs when I get the bumph and let you know how I get on. Hopefully it's not the same as the online application where you have to have your salary going in etc etc.
cheers!

Their new accounts phone team are open from 08:00 to 23:00 only
Outside of these hours your call is forwarded to a different dept who will offer to send you literature by post. I don't know if this will attract the bonus.0 -
it does state..
"£25 when you apply on-line and transfer your salary/income to first direct. "

That's the website literature, I believe.
Martin's article says different T+Cs apply for this phone offer, provided you quote the correct code.0 -
Just rang them. They try to sell you loads of other accounts and stuff. Had to listen to a marketing splee about how great they are, how you get a chequebook and debit card. Etc etc... that took 10 minutes...
...then they said "if you want to apply it will take 15 mins"... I didn't as I don't have the time...
Still good though if you can be bothered.Being bored is so boring Im bored of it... :rotfl:0 -
they were only interested in sending me a literature pack to apply by post. Tried quoting the reference and to apply by phone but firmly directed back to the postal option.
Grrr - guess the terms will be different by post.Beckipeg0 -
1st message so I hope its ok!
I was sent info from First Direct offering me £35. As long as i put in £100 before end of march, salary doesnt have to be paid for this offer i have just checked. They did send a lot of literature re credit cards etc promptly.0 -
I just called and spoke to a very nice lady - it did take ages, lots of info and they do a credit check - but she assured me that I only have to put £100 in to get the £25. They are going to send me forms to sign
She was so nice she almost convinced me to actually bank with them! lol0 -
Am holding for a few minutes already - methinks they are busy0
