  • I had a real Alice in Wonderland moment in a shop the other day when all the sweet bars in front of me were loads smaller than I was used to - I thought I'd suddenly grown taller!

sorry if i have repeated a post but have to mention asdas tins of beans! In last week and could not believe the size of their tins of canellini beans (perhaps not enough n's and too many l's) and kidney beans - all a good bit smaller than the last time i shopped and no cheaper. Think we are bean taken for a ride:)

Just been to Tesco, was buying some pop and noticed

Own brand cloudy lemonade, fiery ginger beer and something else (cant remember which sorry) cans of pop that come in 6 packs...

it said "6 x 330ml cans" on the label like usual so i picked up the pack of ginger beer to discover 4 cans now in a pack?? so checked all the rest on the shelf and the other "flavours" and they were all 4 packs now! For the same price!!

To the point on (only) one label a member of staff has just wrote "4" over where the number 6 was in black biro!!! so its Blatantly obvious your getting 33.3% less for the same price....
  • I've noticed in my local Asda that the 1kg packs of Raisin and Honey Nut Crunch seems to have vanished and replaced with 500g packs of Various flavoured crunch. Half the weight yet priced 20p dearer than it's predecessor!
  • Ambrosia custard in the tin, was 425g now 400g
Smarties CupCakes were in packs of 12 now in packs of 9
    KitKat Chunky we're 52g now 48g
Cadburys Roses carton were 400g now 350g
Quality Street Jar were 870g now 700g
Special K bars were 6 in a box now 5
  • Picked up what I thought was a one litre tub of Tesco's ice cream...........

    Wrong.............900 ml

Penguin biscuits - these have shrunk by around 20%. I've actually got some of Sainsbury's polar biscuits which were an exact clone of Penguin - put them side by side and you can clearly see the difference.

Yazoo milkshake 472ml down from 500ml.

Tesco's own brand croissants have shrunk by about 30% too at some point in the last few months, just noticed the other day. Luckily they seem to have started doing another brand of continental style croissants which are full size and you get 2 for 50p.

Sainsbury's baked in store crusty white rolls seem to be about 30% smaller - used to make do with 2 for lunch but now have to have 3.

I guess the best way to force this to stop is stop buying the shrunken products.

Co-fresh snacks (Bombay mix etc) are prime offenders. Ok, so these are not entirely essential, but the prices have remained consistently 99p per pack - although I have also seen them sold at 75p in some retailers - whereas the packs have shrunk from 400g, to 350g a couple of years ago. Be warned that the latest packs with new packaging are just 325g! That's a lot less snack for your money.

Aldi Sultanas - "new lower price" says red shelf edge label. Was 99p now 85p.

Trying to match Morrisons 84p perhaps I thought.

When weighing out at home, I realised that the pack is no longer 500g but 400g. 20% smaller.

85p is not a "lower price"
