  • hello, just a few tips i've found about car insurance.

    I'm a yound driver - now female 23

bought car 2 years ago and got insured with diamond then for £750 - origianlly it was about £900 which included all the extras such as roadside assistance insurance asked for them to be taken off and got difference refunded.
It was only a ten month policy but worth for getting NCD 2months earlier

Following year AXA insurance, got 4 years no claims discount as wass insured on parents car for 3 years although had to provide proof of this, which was hard to get.

Now, because of AXA granting me the extra NCD, i've now got 5 years and been quoted £295 by Endlsliegh (Third party Fire and Theft only), but still for a young driver its a great quote and my cars old now 1997 clio
  • could the person who give gareth hunters phone no please give a way to contact him as this number is not recognised thanks

big up to adrian flux insurance.... i seem to have an annoying combination of age (26), car type (14 year old audi diesel), parking situation (on street) and insuring my non-cohabiting boyfriend as a named driver that i've only ever been able to get sub £1,000 quotes from the admiral group (i.e. admiral, elephant, diamond). this year's quote from admiral was £475 3rd party (next nearest quote axa at £744) but i decided to give adrian flux a buzz... they've quoted me £413... :) nice one. wonder if i can get diamond to break the £400 barrier for me now... and play a bit of insurance tennis...time to start phoning!

Just renewed mine and yet again Mark at J N Bailie has come through for me and (within a couple of quid) managed to match the cheapest quote I could find on the net.

    Hi There

I had given Quinn Direct a call last year when i got a new car and the only problem that i got was that it took three weeks to even get a cover note never mind the full set of papers so to cut a long story short i had to go else where to insure my car as i needed to tax my car and plus i had to fight to get my £220.00 back which i payed in advanced as it was their fault in which i got back my £220.00 from them :j ,so in my experience i would not use QuinnDirect anymore as in my veiw they are too slow.

Dunno if anyone else has had these problems in the past.

I'd been getting quotes from Abbey, Quinns etc for about £380 for my astra, discovered Quotezone.co.uk which is a site that submits your details to lots of brokers, and they came back with a quote of £282 thru a company "budget insurance services". I've checked the coverage and it's pretty similar to abbey (excess, protected ncb etc) but quite a bit cheaper.

Worth a try for all in N'orn Iron :)
  • This thread has been very helpful! Just as a matter of interest, I thought you might like to know that the cheapest quote I got was from the AA.... I was looking at Third Party Fire & Theft, and Elephant was at least 25% higher. Another quote I got from the Post Office and Budget, was more than double.

The world of insurance is really strange. I still don't understand how they can assess "risk" so differently.
