Hi everyone
I came across this document which is very interesting. It is the Banking Standards on Loans. It is worth a read especially bluesnapper banks should not be making you default not according to the banking standards which is drawn up by the lending standards board.
Good luck everyone

Thanks Mikon
Blue you will need adobe acrobat programme to open it. You can type that in google to download it for free.:T
DFD - Debt free date
LBM - Lightbulb moment (I owe how much/got to do something about it)
DFW - Debt Free Wanabes
Paddle - A support buddy number (from Nataz). Not mandatory, more like I'm proud to be with this club
PAD - Haven't worked out yet, when you find out do let me know!
DMP set up can move quickly. Within 10 days I had DMP ready, opened new bank account, got chequebook, card pin, cancelled direct debits and notified creditors of my dmp and sent token payments for May. Beacuse it all went through so quickly I could potentially have started in May. I've got a large garage bill to settle and ideally you need a wee bit for your emergency fund as there will be no more credit yippee. Hence this was the decision to start in June and send token payments in May. Some people send several months of token payments, other start DMP straight away. Your call.
Yes you may still get letters. :mad:They dont have to stop trying to get the money. If you trace posts back on here and the DMP mutual support thread you will see there is no rhymn nor reason as to which creditors stop or take court action in a particular given scenario. Some people think they do this to stop people being able to play the system. That said many people do get interest frozen or reduced in most cases. My main worry was what if court action but that's not usual and when it does happen you dont have to attend and the judge usually rules you should pay your dmp and interest usually gets frozen so many people see this as a result. If you are seen to be taking responsibility and paying, even if just a token amount then this will always stand in your favour.:j

HTH, you're a Star!
Many thanks for the Enigma-style descryption.
(I was guessing that LBM meant "Last Bad Month" haha.
I'm on it now...
OK'd the DMP with CCCS yesterday.
Sending notifications to creditors today, including token payments for May.
My bank's not an issue, so I haven;t made changes there.
I'll be back to update, panic, celebrate and ask more puerile questions !

Hi Blue, and welcome!!
Looks like you had some good advice yesterday, I know it seems scary to start with but in a couple of months you'll know you made the right decision.0 -
Hiya Blue!
PAD = Payment A Day (its another thread on here, idea is to make some kind of "payment" everyday - its completely addictive!)
Well done on giving CCCS the nod, I would imagine your DMP proper will start at the beginning of June. I would say that £320 a month is a really good amount and I can't see that you'd have any problems with acceptances on that amount!
I'm sure Nat will be along shortly to allocate you a paddle number (the idea being that pre-DMP we were all up the creek without a paddle and now by joining this "club" we've got a paddle again)!!

***YAWN*** why do mornings come around so quickly!! So tired!
Anyway, I finally got all the letters written (only took three days) so I'm off to the Post Office to buy yet more bl**dy postal orders  but no more! 15th May I'm sending proper money!
The ex-in laws have offered to take DB on holiday in the summer because "they know things are tight for me at the moment" I can't say no because I don't begrudge Jack a holiday, but I'm still a bit cross because a) it should be me taking him away but we're broke and b) how the hell do they know "things are tight"??? I don't speak to them from one end of the year to the other, ex-MiL had more to do with the divorce than ex-DH had!!
*and breeeeeeathe*
On the good news side of things - I might be getting a puppy!! My next door neighbours pedigree Boxer had an "accident"with a Springer Spaniel and the outcomes are soooooooo cute! Really want one, just questioning the whole another mouth to feed thing...:D

Oh True, I'm a sucker for any animals and would jump at the chance of getting a dog! Have been known to accost random dog-walkers in the street to have a cuddle! :rotfl:
All I have at the moment is the beautiful ginger cat that keeps visiting, and the BFs parents have 2 completely crazy Jack Russell's for plenty of cuddles!
I'm breathing with on the dreaded MiL, they can be truly horrid. Gah!
No news here, just plodding along...counting the days till I can move in with lovely BF *sigh*.
Hope everyone has a happy Wednesday! :cool:Paddle No 16

I have a security concern folks....
since starting my dmp this month I have had several obviously fake emails with various messages, ranging from "sign in using this link to verify your details as we have a security concern" to "your statement is now available to view online, log in using this link"
I have had 2 or 3 of these a day recently and from banks I have never even had an account with, LOL:rotfl:Paddle no. 12

I keep getting them too LJM - they are all spammy/phishy/virusey nasties so delete, delete, delete! I get them from HMRC too and you can tell they are dodgy because of the grammar and spelling in the subject box!Paddle #8 DFW Nerd #12840
