thanks. I hope that is the case. However, my paranoid side tells me that it may just be that they have passed my case from the 'front office' staff to their collections department and that they'll be even more persistent in their efforts to get the money from me.
Having said that, so be it, there's nothing I can do other than refer them to the CCCS and give them my DMP reference number, the CCCS told me themselves that these calls and emails are probably automated and that until the DMP is up and running, I can expect them to continue to some extent.
The calls and emails themselves aren't what stresses me out, it's the secrecy I have to keep from my employer, colleagues and friends about this whole thing which is quite taxing, but it's necessary and I'm already starting to feel better about myself for having taken this course of action.jusqu'ici tout va bien0 -
Thanks PDD, that's useful. Hope you warm up soon.
Paolo - Keep in there. They way I'm seeing it on stronger moments is that they have had SO much interest from us in the past and yes it will be rocky for a while but at least this option allows us to pay it back, not just run away and importantly offers a way to keep peace of mind for the longer term. Can't recall who posted it on the DMP support threaad but someone said , they can have had and are still having my money, but they are not going to have my life. Well said I think.

Hi everyone!!
Just been reading through the posts...ups and downs same as us!
Santander & Barclay are sticking with not accepting and Lloyds have no record of the account number (fab if they never find it!!).
Lovely evening here and nearly the weekend so it's all goodDebt = HUGE! LBM March 2010:idea:DMP starting May 2010:jWe are now proud to be dealing with our debt!!0 -
Hi everyone just been directed to this thread.
I am about to start my DMP. Changed Bank Accounts just need to contact CCCS. I am Nervous, feeling sick and worried. What I would like is to hear from people who have just started their DMPs please detail your experiences
Did you encounter any harassment from creditors?
Where your creditors sympathetic and did they accept your DMP without argument ?
How long have you been on a DMP?
What where the early days like for you? how did you feel once you had sent your token payment letter off.
Which creditors gave you hassle please name and shame
Which creditors accepted your DMP please list
My creditors are Barclays, Barclay Card, Northern Rock, Coop, Citi Finance, HFC, Argos, Next and M & S CC. Please let me know your experiences with these creditors did they accept immediately?
I think that covers it if you have anything further to add then feel obliged to do so. I think by answering these questions alot of peoples questions about the early stages of a DMP will be answered.
Thank you and what a great thread.
Regards

Welcome Mikon
Tixy directs new DMPers to us as we've all started at around the same time so similar experiences. This is probably the best decision you've made in a while and getting your debt sorted will absolutely help your peace of mind. So you need to contact CCCS asap because it sometimes takes around a month to sort out a DMP, you've made a good start with your nice new bank account. My OH and I have 22 creditors and they have all accepted our DMP, three months in and only Lloyds are still charging "proper interest" but it is considerably reduced. We have Barclays, who were no bother, Citi who were a little silly at the beginning but have now settled down, and M&S who were great, stopped interest right away. In total we've had about 6 phone calls, some were very incompetant but no one was horrible and we actually phoned a couple ourselves to get it sorted. I think the main thing to be is assertive and calm, they can't have what you haven't got!!
Have a read of the thread and relax, you've done the right thing and you've taken the first step and admitted you've got a problem, always the hardest part!!!
Keep posting and good luckMore than Two Years in

Pure Dead Dopey,
Thanks for the reply. My wife has been worried sick with this and so have I. I am ringing CCCS on Monday so may need to send a token payment to my creditors until CCCS start the DMP. Sometimes I think great should have done this years ago other times i worry and think to myself what happens if they take me to court and I am forced to sell my house what do I tell the children I hope it does not come to that I guess that my main worry. I just wish it was up and running and everyone has agreed to the DMP.
Thanks once again.

I would say at the moment you are a long way from losing the house, so keep calm, get the DMP up and running and see how it goes from there. As I said before, they can't take what you haven't got.. How old are the children, do you need to tell them anything? We have two grown up children who both live at home, they have been very supportive and know that we are trying to pay it off. keep posting and if its a new problem, we'll all put our heads together and try to figure it out, someone always knows the answers and if we don't, there are some very wise heads on the board. So try not to worry (I know its hard at this stage) and get the token payments off to the creditors with a letter. DON'T pay more than a token, £1 or £2 and squirrel away any extra for an emergency fund. You'll be fine and swinging around in an Aldi trolley before you know where you are!!!!

I have about £100 left and I need to pay £350 to Barclaycard and £175 to Citi Finance the other creditors have been paid this month. Should I pay them with my overdraft or should I just send a token payment to these creditors with a letter explaining I am about to undertake a DMP with CCCS which willl hopefully be up and running next month?
Will I need to include my SOA with the token payment or should I wait until I send my letter next month with the pro rata payments?
Thank you for the help I feel better just chatting like this.
Best Wishes
