I'm skint all the time. I just don't buy anything (sounds easy, it's not) but I make sure all my bills are covered. I make sure I leave enough for food and petrol and the occasional treat out of my HUGE entertainment budget of £20 a month.

What I gain is the knowledge I will be debt free one day, my debt is shrinking slowly and the fact I have learned a massive lesson and will never borrow another penny ever, ever again.

    E2 :)

Welcome EK786 I agree with E2 and the best thing is that for the years it is going to take me, when that is over the £5400 I have paid in the past 11 months to Pay plan will be mine per year. Having that much money should mean I won't need to consider borrowing ever again. The same will work for all of us :T

    Hi everyone

I started my DMP eight months ago and if you read my last post you will see I experienced the worry, nightmares and tortured myself with what happens if this happens or that happens but eight months down the line its the best thing I have ever done. I am not ashamed of my situation I am addressing it and facing up to my debts. Together we will get each other through this.

Have a good weekend everyone I hope this post will help allay some of your fears.

    Mikon

    Hey Mikon

I couldn't agree more. Besides I don't think any of us should feel ashamed. I think we should all feel proud of ourselves for having to swallow our pride and ask someone for help and being able to admit - for whatever reason - that we had overspent to the point of intolerable debt and needed to sort it out.

After all, we are the only ones who can make that decision. Point in case was that I received a letter from Egg the other day - review time - with all the usual crud in it but what was interesting (and nice!) I supposed was that the front page explained that because I was in arrears, they had defaulted me ... blah ... blah ..blah BUT because I had stuck to my regular payments which I had agreed with them and had not missed any - they would take no further action and continue on as is. How cool is that! I'm probably paying them more now than I would have been with the minimum payments anyway.

By the way everyone, thank you for the lovely sentiments. I had a lovely birthday. My hubbie took me to a new Jazz Club called Burts at The Merchant Hotel in Belfast where we had a few drinks and a lovely meal. To die for actually! He then took me on a small pub crawl to a few select establishments for some drinks and a number of cocktails. It was a lovely birthday present and I admit it was nice to feel like an ordinary grown up on a night out for a change.

In the middle of it all, by the way, we went to the cinema to see my chosen film (my birthday ... my pick). We saw the new Disney film "Tangled" in 3D. Don't all laugh at once. I'm a bit of a sap for those and I must say that we both had a good laugh at the many adult aimed jokes in the film and I came out feeling all was right with the world.:j:j:j

Thanks to you all for your lovely comments. It made my weekend a little brighter for all the right reasons.

    Hi everyone

Mephista its sounds as if you had a great day.

    Quick update

Still doing some research in relation to the Full & Final Offers. I may consider offering some of my small creditors 30% - 40% of the debt.

Apart from the above my DMP is running along smoothly. Slight hiccup at the weekend radiator broke cost £30, daughter needs new glasses cost £30 Fuel Bill £370. Held off paying the fuel bill as long as possible well until I got the final demand then I decided to pay.

On a final note - Welcome to all the new DMPs the DMP Rollercoaster its full of ups and downs, but stay with it and you will get to the end and like a rollercoaster you will feel sick, nervous and frightened but you will get through it.

    Best Wishes

Glad things are seeming a bit brighter for you.

I always think the 'kiddie' films are the best anyway :rotfl: :rotfl:
  • Think I need to ring CCCS, when I had my review they more than doubled my payment, and it seems way to high - really struggling this month but I can't see why - I need to go back to basics and strat writing everything down maybe??? Thing is I don't want to lower it cos that makes it longer, gonna head over to old style see if I can save more pennies there!

Also I've got a house full of [STRIKE]trash[/STRIKE] treasure to ebay but can't seem to get motivated to do it at the moment - really need someone to kick my butt into touch at the minute!

I must say. I've thought about ebay loads and I've tonnes of stuff I could have sold on it but it sort of scares me a little and I haven't a clue how to work it. Added to the fact that you have to take and scan in pictures of the stuff and then figure out how much to charge for postage (or not!), etc. I betcha that's probably the same deal for loads of us. If someone here is an expert ebayer. I'd love your thoughts on the subject!:D

Oh, don't get me wrong I've sold loads of stuff on there over the years. It's actually really easy, if you need any help just let me know.

I'm just too lazy at the minute :o
