Redundancy might be on the cards, we have had an official notification my position is at risk, they need to cut 1 1/2 people or 54 hours a week between 5 1/2 positions. I've been at the same job for 39 years and 4 months. So no idea what to do if it does happen.:eek: Will have another 1 on 1 meeting Thursday, Oh! goody the 13th:eek: to learn what it does mean for me. Had hoped to eek it out for another 2 years when the company has to have a rebid and we agree the section will be closed down but at that time I would be 59 anyway. So a worrying 2 days ahead. Might find I do need to tell people about the DMP after all.Paddle No 21 :wave:0

mikon, a few people are saying they cannot afford to take the redundancy because of money reasons and are getting lots of soothing, sorries from people. Sorely tempted today to say well "I'm on a DMP already" so I don't want to take it either. These people would be able to get benefits, as a single person, despite having no money whatsoever I would not.Paddle No 21 :wave:0

You would be entitled to benefit if you have worked for the previous 2 tax years and paid NI contributions irrespective of saving or redundancy payments. But I do see where your coming from regarding people saying the cannot afford to take redundancy. You could have a quite word but that is your decision.Mikon Riding the DMP Rollercoaster full of ups and downs but i will get to the end. :T:j

Hi Gibbs
I hope it goes well on Thursday and there must be some benefits that you would qualify for, but don't lets go there, positive vibes for now. Look at it like this, if you've been there for 39 years, you are going to cost a fortune to make redundant, must be somebody cheaper to lose there. Sounds a bit callous but its you we're worrying about here. and if the worst does happen there is always UE, so there will be an answer. I'll keep everything crossed for you.More than Two Years in
