Thank you everyone. I feel a litter better, just when things had settled down this upsets the apple cart.
This opens a new set of worries will my creditors of large debts 10k plus will they default me then take me to court. I have been strong the past few months but this has wobbled me a bit. Do they have to default me before passing to a DCA or can they do it any time.
ThanksMikon Riding the DMP Rollercoaster full of ups and downs but i will get to the end. :T:j

they are supposed to default you within six months of your breaking your t&cs, They usually default before they sell you on but most don't actually sell you on they just farm you out for someone else to chase for a cut of any proceeds. Its just the way the system works, it ain't perfect but once you know what is what, its not so scary.

Mikon I wallpaper the downstairs loo with defaults, have quite a collection in there, they are as Eyeopener says just a procedure, the quicker they default you, the quicker it will drop off your credit file, 6 years in England I believe.
Hope everybody has a good January, its always a pig of a month and its a year since a lot of us started this journey, I'm definitely in a better place and I hope you all too.

Is it 6 yrs after it has been registered or 6 yrs after the debt is cleared. If the debt is 8yrs in length what happens?
Sorry for all the questions.

Panic, Alarm, sinking feeling and feeling sick some of the feelings i felt when i opened the mail today. HFC sent me what I think is a default notice. It states that the outstanding balance has to be paid by 19 Jan 2011 or they may take me to court alot of legal wording finished off by you need to seek legal advice do not ignore this letter. The letter also included a OFT leaflet stating DEFAULT NOTICE what to do. I panicked and thought this sound like they are going to take me to court. I have a letter from them agreeing reduced payments etc and an annual review.
I have contacted CCCS who inform me that this letter is computer generated and not to worry just file and forget but the letter is strongly worde. CCCS said they will contact HFC and send a review letter on Monday in relation to this default notice.
Has anyone one else received a default notice and what did you do?
Did you speak to the creditor direct are let CCCS deal with it.
I am a little worried I know the letter does contain a lot of mays.
Any advice much appreciated.
I had a similar one from HSBC before Christmas, Payplan told me to ignore it as they will probably pass it on and they just sent the offer again. HSBC still say "Pending" while the others say "Accepted". Still not heard anything else but expect to any day. Much reassurance reading that we all get the same sort of letters, without this thread it would be scary.
Next month was my first token payment:T
Anyone else approaching the anniversary feel like they might start telling people? Outwardly nothing has changed for the past year and I wonder if people knew I was doing a DMP deciding not to go for a meal or to the cinema would be easier and it really gets my goat when people start moaning about not having money for this and that. I feel like saying "I'm on a DMP, have been for a year but you don't here me going on about no money all the time".Paddle No 21 :wave:0 -

Have a DF weekend all take care x0 -
Thankfully for us we have faced up to our problems and embarked on a DMP, but many others have not and they are trying to keep their heads above water buy using credit cards. The fact is they should be defaulting on the credit cards and paying the mortgage to ensure they have a roof over their heads. Also interest rates on CC compared to mortgages are astronomical. Its just the start of what is going to be a tough year ahead.

Mikon
I believe that defaults can only be registered once no matter how long it takes to pay the debt. After all, you can't break the T & Cs of a contract more than once really, can't you.
Thats how I see it, and i've tried to read up on this over various debt sites. But as always i'm open to challenge.
However (isn't there always a however) DCAs have been know to register them again.I'm Debt Free :j 2/09/2013
