  • Hello all. I joined the forum a while ago and have finally made some progress with setting up my DMP.

I have changed my bank account to Natwest ( have also amended salary details so should go in for September ).

I have made token payments to Coop ( £6500 loan and £200 overdraft ), Virgin ( £2500 card ), Barclaycard ( £1000 card ) and Post Office ( £1300 card ). I have had some letters but nothing too bad. I spoke to Barclaycard last week and gave them my Payplan ID number - they seemed to accept it OK. Coop have tried to ring today but I was in the shower. I asked them to call me on my mobile and had the home number deleted in the weeks whilst I was speaking to Payplan - which seems to have worked. I have had a letter from Virgin ( or MBNA ) stating they have recieved my token payment and letter confirming my intention to go on a reduced payment plan. Nothing so far from the Post Office.

I have set up a standing order so I should make my first DMP payment to payplan on the 24th September from my new bank account.

However I am incredibly nervous at the moment. I have been banking with the Coop for 10 years and most of my debt is with them. Will the creditors accept my DMP in your opinion? £211 per month is what I will be paying compared to around £360 previously.

Another thing, this forum is an excellent help when I feel a little aprehensive. I cannot wait until the DMP is in 'full swing' - at the moment I am nervous everytime the postman calls or the phone rings!

    Thanks
  • Thanks Gibbs, it is a help to hear of others in the same boat.
  • Weird thing about being on a dmp is the 'sneaky' feeling of excitement at having to be really tight. I've discovered so many savings that have enriched our lifestyle rather than hindering it (very early days yet) - I am becoming a Morrisons value brand bore :) ---nI have lots of advice in this department since I love my food and wouldn't want to actually drop standards of cuisine!
  • New Bill I know what you mean as I find i'm just waiting for the phone to ring and to see what the postman rings. We've had some letters from the post office but just saying that we have been charged a extra £12 late payment?? and these seem to be coming every 2 weeks. That is bothering me but i'm even more worried about the letters i'm not receiving. We owe Nat West A LOT but since our very nice account manager rang to say our account had been 'passed on' have heard nothing, and on Payplan its showing as pending. To make matters worse when I've searched 'nat west & dmp' all i seem to come across is negative stories and I've now convinced myself we will end up in court. Thats me all over!

On a more positive note Paddlepanda I agree that in some ways i'm actually enjoying economising and I take great pleasure in bagging a bargain. I think a lot of it is to do with actually taking control I just wish i'd done it 20 years ago! Love Morrisons bargains especially shopping in the evening. Bread 30p!!! Also been fruit picking when out walking & make jam, crumble etc all free....and don't get me started about charity shops. :)

  • Hello all

I've been MIA for a while so im sorry about that, had a few deaths in the family and i buried my head right back in the sand as I didnt want to deal with that along with all the others bits going on.

however, you can't do that forever can you! So i have been in contact with payplan and am currently sorting out the DMP plan. I've filled out all the forms, and am just waiting to hear back about whats happening next.

Am relieved I took that step, but having worked out the total of my debt I realised I had well and truly buried my head! But hey ho, onwards and upwards and only hard work will get me debt free. Lots of nights in and cheap activities from here on!

Hope everyone is ok today, and here's to the future :) x

    Hi all

A bit of nothing but I got a letter today off a DCA confirming I had paid off one of my PayDay Loans.

If things stay as they are the other two PayDay Loans will be gone by the New year so thats also good.

    Long way to go though.

  • Well I rang Payplan today to express my worry that I hadnt heard anything from Coop ( in person ) today. They were helpful and explained that they had got in touch with all my creditors but were waiting to hear from Coop - they contacted them last due to me making sure my new bank account was set up with Natwest.

Anyway I thought 'sod it' and rang Co-op as I was at work just waiting for my mobile to go. I spoke to a woman who confirmed they had tried to ring yesterday afternoon. I said I had been in touch with Payplan and gave them my ID number. She was very nice and confirmed that they had been in contact with Payplan and things are going OK.

Although I am a new poster I may have a decent tip. Before I sent off my first token payments - ie after I had the LBM but before I started ( start later this month ) paying Payplan - I rang the Coop and asked them to delete my home number - saying I was in the process of changing the landline. So now they have my mobile only. I also did this with Barclaycard. I do speak to them when they call - but simply give the Payplan ID number and be polite as I can. Actually Barclaycard havent rang since then whilst I have had no phone contact with my other two creditors ( MBNA and Post Office ). I dont know about you but I find the mobile number being 'out there' a lot better than worrying about the home phone going off at unexpected moments. Especially if you share accomodation like myself.

So today has been a good day.
