Just wondered, you know those pre-paid cards you can get - are we allowed them on a DMP? Just wondered as it could come in handy for online stuff or for emergencies.Paddle number 22

Hey Jeddy,
I'm sure about them, i pretty sure Martin has got a page on them some where. Don't they run a credit check to gain one of these, i think he recommends them to start re building your rating??0 -

Cheers Gabriella!
I think (it may have been in the old thread) that people were going on about them
I don't think they would run a credit check as they don't provide the credit but you do.Paddle number 22

Just looked around and 02 do a free pre-paid visa card called 'Load and Go' which everyone has recommended. It works in the same way as a top up card for your mobile phone.
I just applied and was successful. It will come in handy as I can top up the card when I want which will come in handy for a few things with the added bonus that I am not using 'credit' but my own cash and I won't owe anything to anyone!Paddle number 22

Hi jeddy5, I was just going to say that none of them do credit checks as it's your cash HOWEVER, I was going to get the 02 card and then I think I noticed that the bank they use is Natwest and I didn't want them getting wind of it and helping themselves, probably paranoid but didn't want to take the risk, especially as RBS have done a search and now taken the money out of one of my kids savers accounts (only small amount in them so had forgotten about it but still...no conscience, Barstewards!)
Not posting to worry you as you sounded so happy but wouldn't like to say nothing either.......please check there is no connection.
OMG Ted, I can't believe that they've done that, how, how, how, surely your children are not you and it is their money ! !!!!!!:mad::mad: Am deeply outraged on behalf of your child!!!!
Good job we are rubbish parents and never started savings for our children - if we do they'll be co-op too!
But then also very happy you had a lovely day :rotfl:"are we nearly there yet "DMP mutual support thread member 371LBM Jan 2010DMP Paddle No 20 -
Morning everyone!
Spent a LONG time looking for cheap (hahahahahaha) self catering cottages in cornwall, for school holidays........oh what a laugh that was. Do people not realise people have The Incorporater DMP to contend with and have to squeeze food budget to pay for holiday and little children must have a holiday- well us too - and BH( not sure if this one makes sense but like bleeping heck) how much, the best I could find that was actually available was £625! Sent booking enquiry, can dream...DMP mutual support thread member 371LBM Jan 2010DMP Paddle No 20 -

OMG:eek:I can't believe that, your childrens account. Were the accounts both with RBS or one with RBS and the other with Natwest?0 -
Hi
As a newcomer to this site may I say that I have found this thread very informative. I had, up until this point not known what CCCS or DMP were, I was further unaware that banks were in the habit of taking money out of accounts to pay off other debts, all truly fascinating.
Perhaps of even more inspiration is seeing the debt free dates which are included in the signature blocks, stretching out to as far as 2018,, looking at these dates and understanding the ramifications of such a long period on ones personal life makes me ponder any considerable outlay.
Sadly my experience of the financial sector is that despite all their promises of assistance if you get into difficulties, they aim primarily to kick you when you are down, one only has to look at the examples of credit card companies raising their interest rates from 16% to 30% if they feel you are in difficulty. Very much a case of seeing how much they can get out of you before you finally crack (my experiences included paying some 300 pounds in interest along on CCs, which rose from circa 150 pounds after they had altered the rates.
I am now debt free however at one point as can be seen above this was not the case, and with no one to discuss the issue with, no support, and many sleepless nights I can understand what a boon this board must be for many and I urge you to carry on the good work.
Good luck with your DMPs, CCCS's and all the other anacronyms, I will be watching with interest0 -
Ted that is soooo out of order and we own this mob of dopes, I would write to a newspaper and expose the barstewards for the filth that they are!!!!
Ted CCCS asked us for a couple of payslips at the beginning and then came back and asked about my commission which of course was showing. I explained that it was commission and I couldn't really control or rely on it so they said to take it off, so I did!!!
OH sometimes has overtime so we treat that the same.
Mama Look at a private hire for the summer, generally cheaper and more open to negotiation, do you have to go in August, end July might be cheaper. Companies to look for are Owners Direct and Homildays, google private self catering, you might also get individual owners with websites on google and they are usually cheaper as well. Other thing does it need to be Cornwall, generally more expensive in the summer, what about North Norfolk or Somerset course or even south Wales????

Welcome BLT for your kind words, most of us just really found out about DMPs and the boards relatively recently as well and you're right, it has been a great deal of help. Can totally sympathise with the rate jacking, as being in this position has a lot to do with rate jacking and limit interferance downwards. The one thing I have definitely learned that the banks have no idea of what customer service means and no concept of customer loyalty, the company I work for would be out of business if we treated customers the way the banks do, what next, how low is stealing from innocent children?????More than Two Years in
