Why are you getting threats of people calling? I don't think that usually happens so early. Maybe you are behind in payments before contacting CCCS?

yes i was behind on payments. great i feel a lot worse now that you have said it doesnt happen early on, making me think i am much worse than i thought i was, i am so scared about people knocking the door especially if i have people round or my husband at home. i spent all weekend last week sat on the settee watching and jumping at any car that went past. looks like another weekend of anxiety!

Try not to worry, when does your DMP start? Once the creditors start getting payments from CCCS they generally back off a bit. There might be a few issues at the start like having to change due dates to work with the CCCS date, but usually things are much better then. CCCS told me this week, after a few things going wrong with Next, not to enter into any agreements with creditors. Tell them the CCCS ref and that they must make any offers through them.

I felt terrible at the start, too. I was only able to keep up with payments with handouts from my parents but was frequently late. My husband had no idea and still doesn't really. But it does get much better.

Oh, also, I don't think you usually get threats of visits early on but I could be wrong and you could just be unlucky, or it could just be your particular creditors. Don't feel bad, forget about what you could have done differently and focus what you are doing now to make this better :)

Thanks no one has visited yet and most of the letters just sound like threats to make me ring them,so far i have just rung and explained cccs and they have said they will stop collections actions for a month. I just can't wait for it to be all sorted to be honest!

    Hi Guys,

Well not any further forward really. HSBC (our main creditor) say they don't accept our offer although they have cashed the token payments. They are going to ring me in a month to review the situation by which time I will have missed 2 payments and they may be able to help with a managed loan(not sure what that is) so just going to go ahead and pay the amount we promised on the DMP on 26th June. Halifax are ignoring our offer though they also cashed the token payment. This morning got a call from them an automated message saying this is an important phone call for (My name) please press 1. I panicked and put the phone down. Has anyone else had this from Halifax? I didn't think this would be easy but I thought I might get a straightforward response to our initial letters. Please tell me things will settle down:o

My husband has had automated calls from halifax it usually said if the person was there press one if not press two , if they were available on another number press three, if they were available but not near the phone press another number and they would wait my husband just pressed the button to say he was there and then was put to a person, he gave them his DMP number and they did try to get him to pay them , but he just told them he had a dmp and the company would be in touch but at the minute they havestopped ringing but his dmp is up and running, hope this helps:j

    Hi guys

the sun is shining, we need to be more upbeat!!!

One over riding fact is that once CCCS has paid the creditors a couple of payments they tend to settle down, they still come the silly beggers occasionally but essentially, when CCCS are paying them, its what they want. they know that CCCS are good stable facilitators and that they will be treated fairly. ALL of their letters are designed to scare you, its about the only weapon they have, you sometimes wouldn't know it but there are laws and guidelines about debt and there is a limit to what the creditors can do so they try to scare you into thinking they are more powerful than they are.

They have NO powers to visit you at home, no more rights than the local paperboy.
They only need to have one method of contacting you, so don't need multiple numbers, tell them to b$g$er off.
No judge is ever going to give them your house if you are paying what you can, and its even very unlikely if you aren't.
Remember that the guys who post on here in deep dodo, are the guys who have a problem, probably 95% of people on DMPs just swim along paying off their debts.
And its only money, if you are doing your best they have no right to harass you.
Sometimes speaking to them calms them down, I have spoken to all of ours when needful, calm, assertive polite but I don't take any sh$t and if they get rude I just ask to speak to a manager and tell them I've taped the call. only happened once and he was an idiot.

so let's all try not to worry, you're doing your best and the sun is shining and they can't have what you haven't got..........

    Afternoon

Well the email ping pong continues with PayDay UK. They are going to continue to try and take money from my debit card (cancelled) thats linked to my bank account (closed) instead of accepting the DMP. In fact the are REFUSING to accept the DMP.

Latest threat is that they will refer my account to a DCA if I do not pay the overdue amount.

So I just replied that they can refer the account, i'm quite happy to deal with a DCA as they will get the same response, but wouldn't it be more sensible for all concerned if they just accepted the DMP after all they are going to get paid by CCCS whether they like it or not!

Ah well looks like i'm in for a fight. Bring it on, i'm past caring now and nothing they can do scares me. By the time the court threats start I will probably have paid a good chunk of it anyway.

Nothing compares to the thought I was going to lose my OH and DS over the overall debt ( i hadn't told her, she found out, major trauma) so, PDUK, you can get lost for now. I don't care.

    oooh Eyeopener,

sorry didn't realise that you hadn't told your OH. honestly its probably better to tell, difficult I know but better in the long run to face together. If she's just found out, give her a wee minute, it will probably have come as a bit of a shock, once she thinks on, she may calm down. Don't want to cause confrontation but hasn't she benefitted from your debt, meals, trips etc, sometimes peple forget what the money has been spent on. My OH always knew we had debt just not the exact figure, and when we added it up (after we had regained conciousness) he thought about it and said yes he could see where it had gone for the most part and it was down to the two of us together. so we're tackling it together (though its me that deals with the mountain of paperwork!!!!).

Good luck, concentrate on sorting out your OH, and two fingers to PDUK (just make absolutely sure that they can't take any money from you anywhere.
