ps I didn't explain the neighbour bit! neighbour has seen the website.

She looked a bit troubled as we talked.

At playgroup she gave fergie more than his fair share of the grapes and apple on the table for the children to share.

I later realised that she must think that I think the Bob and shirl planner is normal and what I eat, with my non-negotiables built in!:rotfl::o

and another question for you all to consider...

when we launched the site the month one had been tested by quite
    a few of you :A

Kitty's month won't have been tried out in full at all.

    do we:

    A) just go for it, it won't matter!

    B) go for it, but explain this month is being tested and invite them to give feedback via FB/the hotmail address

    C)
ask across MSE for testers of the full month, and ask them to use the website but give their feedback on here.

    Vote now! :rotfl:

    Interesting!

And would solve (a bit) the issue of, 'well that's month one over-but do I now eat exactly the same things for the rest of my life?!' giving some variations on a theme...

I think it's a hefty old project, but pinkhayley would you be prepared to take on writing an alternatives page?

We could all chip in with our alternatives to things based on the same shopping list?

    2 examples (both from QOS:))

getting bored of toast as a snack? try baking one of your loaves into flavoured breadsticks, (give recipe)

Fancy 2 curries for the price of one? (saag aloo) make the lentils into a loose runny dahl with garlic and garam, and serve this with your spinach and potato curry :)

I would certainly be willing to give this a go. I have a couple of exams in the next two weeks but I will do bits and pieces on it when I can.

Please keep the ideas coming, either on here or by PMing them me :) Thank you.

    thanks pink hayley :)

If it's a bit much with the exams, do say!

We'll all post our ideas then.

    Shall we do them in
PINK so pinkhayley can easily find them?:)

Allegra, I'm not asking you to do this, but how easy/hard is it going to be to adapt the batch cook guide to kitty's plan?

And should we go live with planner 3 without it, or wait?

    Any thoughts welcomed :)

I'm more than happy to do it and it will give me a break from the revision! Posting in pink would be really helpful, thanks all :)

    Brill :)

And just to make things clearer, we'd like 2 seperate pieces, one for variations on the month 1 recipes, and one for the variations on the month 3 recipes.

So it would be helpful if your post was like this:

I think the calzone is also nice as an open pizza but with very thinly sliced raw onions on it. (Planner 3)

If your family don't like the porridge, try doing a baked cereal bar with the same ingredients: recipe, blah, blah.... (planners 1 and 3)

this brings me on to an issue I've been struggling with about the site, highlighted by an embarrassing incident with my neighbour.

My understanding of the brief I gave myself at the start of the challenge was that this was pretty much subsistence living with one non-negotiable allowed. So I'm saying absolute subsistence (meeting FSA health criteria) costs 70p per person in the UK in May 2010. Subsistence plus a non-negotiable costs 80p per person daily.

So now we have a website, and I'm looking at it... and it doesn't 'say' subsistence to me!

It looks far more normal than that!

And we've taken great pains to say how normal it is, hoping to reel shirley in....

But it's for shirley, rather than folk on a normal budget.

    Is this making any sense?

I don't want to produce a drab, ugly site (I care a lot about aesthetics) but this one is maybe giving a wrong message?

Look forward to any helpful thoughts :)

Afternoon all, I need to go and put some tents up in a minute but cant be bothered so..if any one needs anything I'm happy to help.

To clarify Weezl are you worried that because it looks so pretty/professional and user-friendly that people will think it is a good diet to follow regardless of their financial position?

Poor Fergus-she probably thinks you feed him gruel!!!

Sounds great! I will keep an eye out for any pink posts and copy them into a word document as I go along ready to write them up. :)
