Weezl - I think you have managed to explain that this is a subsistance meal planner but in a way that looks (and tastes) fabulous! If people find /follow links to this site thay are likely to be looking to cut back for a variety of reasons (not just debt) but still want a healthy, balanced diet.

I wouldn't be afraid if people with more money to spend come across the site - they may have more money to spend (and buying treats if they wish) but even incorporating a few meals simply because they look and taste :drool::drool::drool: means they can save £££s too if they want to! Maybe they want to build a better emergency fund, go on holiday or simply want to cut outgoings a bit so they don't get into debt in the first place. Its all good. It may even be a lifesaver for them or their friends in the future if they loose their jobs or aren't well enough to work anymore...

You have no way to control how people use the info... you are providing it for the all Shirleys... but if her richer cousin loves the onion tart and the risotto and wants to make them too I wouldn't stress about it!
    Thanks Taka :) wise words!

You're one of the people I wonder sometimes if you'd like to do more with evolving the site (hope that hasn't scared you!) as you seem a regular who believes in all this.

But I'm aware I don't always know exactly what types of task folk are up for. :o

Do please say anyone who'd like to join in :)

This is for the tarte tatin recipe isn't it? Sian, any tips on what kitty can do if she can't put her pretty circles of onion straight onto the hob in her dish? Can she just oven roast them for longer first?

hey, I think if they need to be cooked in a pan you could ask Kitty when she is chopping her onions to take a few thin slices and lay them in the bottom of the tin and pop it into the oven whilst it is warming up, then you will have a pretty pattern but only on the top, where it matters I guess. Hope that makes sense!

Part of me would love to help but I end up being too scared I'd get it all wrong. I did volunteer for something a month or 2 ago but I didn't finish it (Sorry! :o) so I feel bad about volunteering for anything else in case I fail to do it again and hold everything else up! :o

I also have battled with an eating disorder on and off for a loooong time (I'm really well at the moment :D) but sometimes I recognise that reading and thinking about Shirley/Bob and Kitty/whatshisname and food/nutrition for big chunks of time (especially during the part 1 thread) isn't that healthy for me and that I wasn't eating right! :o I kinda had to step back a bit and concentrate on me and my nutrition for a bit...

I'd love to do small things (preferably non-time critical!) as this is such an amazing project and I'd love to help...

what was it folk didn't like about the photography of the vitamins, I thought it was quite a crisp clean bright shot?

The pic is a great pic but it is what the picture is showing that is the issue. In the same way that when you walk into a supermarket you head in through the greengrocers section and not the shampoo section, you would want a page about nutrition to show you how healthy the menu is. Seeing that picture makes me think "ooh, I need to take some pills", seeing a nice juicy onion makes me think "ooh, this plan is healthy". Your text is saying "you don't need to take the pills if you do our plan", having the picture there suggests the opposite.
    Hope that makes sense

oh thank you taka for your thoughtful, honest reply, and I'm sorry if I put you on the spot!

I agree that chatting so much about the nutrition on here hasn't always been the healthiest for me and DH either, although it's meant we've known fergie is getting his vits :rotfl:

As for little projects as and when... but of course, :) that would be ace!

It's a bit like I want it to say: normal people with big grocery budgets go away! This site isn't for you! Try Delia, Jamie, Ainslie, Nigella.....but that would be rude :o

why on earth don't you want those with bigger budgets to use the site?

Just because people have the money in their pocket to be able to spend lots on their groceries, why does that mean they aren't allowed to cook our cheaper meals?

I can remember some of those Economy Gastronomy programmes where it was such a revelation to people that they could feed their family on 2/3 of their previous budget, and we know of course, that they could halve that again very easily with just a few MSE ideas. If people see these recipes, try some, decide to cut their budget drastically, who are we to say they can't?

There may be all sorts of reasons. I am trying at the moment to show my DD just how much difference overpaying your mortgage each month can make to the repayment time. We could be helping people to step off the mortgage treadmill.

on the Egg calculator for instance, a £100,000 mortgage, with 18 years left to pay and an interest rate of 5.49% can be reduced right down to 5 years and 8 months if you overpay by £100 a month.

CFM could easily help people achieve that kind of saving off their groceries without breaking a sweat

come one come all I say

Edit - sorry if this comes across a bit strong. I feel strongly about people limiting themselves and having low horizons simply because they don't know any different. Something I have done, and do, and see around me all the time

Lesley I'm sorry if I offended you. I was reacting to feeling criticised myself, and having a bit of a mini rant to get it out of my system a bit, but I never intended to upset anyone.

I am a mortgage free wannabe myself hence the whole reason for my 50p a day challenge, so I am on your side.
