Afternoon all, I need to go and put some tents up in a minute but cant be bothered so..if any one needs anything I'm happy to help.
To clarify Weezl are you worried that because it looks so pretty/professional and user-friendly that people will think it is a good diet to follow regardless of their financial position?
Poor Fergus-she probably thinks you feed him gruel!!!
ETA:I think option B
xxxyeah, a bit like, in the prettiness have we lost the subsistence. And then people who aren't shirl get lured in and think, 'yummy!' but then go, hang on! where's my freshly cut pieces of melon in a packet, my chocolate, my wine, my pudding every night, my meat everyday..... and then we're more of a let down...
I dunno, is it making any sense?
It's a bit like I want it to say: normal people with big grocery budgets go away! This site isn't for you! Try Delia, Jamie, Ainslie, Nigella.....but that would be rude

Allegra, I'm not asking you to do this, but how easy/hard is it going to be to adapt the batch cook guide to kitty's plan?
And should we go live with planner 3 without it, or wait?
Any thoughts welcomed
I can do it over the next couple of weeks, as work have decided that now the exams are over, they will not wait until the official end of term before going to skeleton staff, which means I have already lost two hours and will be losing more from next week. That means that a) I will actually have more time on my hands well before I expected to and b) I'll have to concentrate on tightening the belt a little bit more earlier than I expected to.
Having said that, if the general opinion is that you should go live with the vegan plan, please do not wait for the batch guide before you do it, cos then I'll get stressed about holding everyone up and produce a pile of rubbish as a result
And yeah, I'd go live without testing the plan in full - although a vegan thread has been mentioned at times here, and I think there' no harm in dropping a word in and see if anyone's interested in having a go... ?
BTW, I recall that in the depths of time I have volunteered for breaking down Kitty's shopping list into weekly ones - if you are happy to go ahead with the planner as I posted it yesterday, and if Kezlou and Aless are not keen to apply their speedy talents to this task, I am happy to have a stab at it alongside the batch cooking guide for Kitty over the next couple of weeks.
Oh, and the marmitey bread is proving as we speak - I used 14 tsp as that's exactly what was left in the jar, so I took it as a sign and went for it0 -
hmmmn good summary arty

Yeah, okay, that might be the case - but you can' please all of the people all of the time, we keep saying that, and it is so, you just can't.
Think of poor Shirley - and Kitty, and that third poor girl whose name no one can remember - instead. For someone who has very little money left to feed their family after all else is paid, to find that it will not be all SP sausages and SP toast, to find that they can still feed their faimily a healthy and posh-looking diet - it can make all the difference between mental health and loss thereof.
We keep saying - well, I do, it's my ruddy catchphrase - that subsistence and frugality need not equal deprivation, and that's what the site reiterates every step of the way. It is, to my mind, that first, all-important step on the way to re-educating people away from the debt culture, knowing that you can still live like king without being in bondage to lenders.
And you need to talk to the neighbour again and disabuse her of her misapprehensions0 -

I have tried to word this is a way that is not offensive so please dont take it as such...:o
I think you are unnecessarily worrying about this, it states clearly on the home page that it is a subsistence diet and there are explanations why we are using rather odd ingredients e.g ready brek in recipes rather than just buying more expensive things.:)
I think it would be a bit nanny-stateish to worry about people doing the planner and then not getting all the goodies they want. It also sounds a little bit as if you think there will be stupid people using it and not understanding the premise:o and therefore you need to spell it out to them very simply, I dont think that is necessary.:p
How the planner is used is not your responsibility now it is out there and you have to have trust in the people that they can decided what aspects to take from it and what to add to it.

Not wrong, just not necessary. Other people's stupidity is not your responsibility. Your considerable energies are far better employed communicating to a teachable audience (IMHO). Cos if you take the route of idiot-proofing the site, you'll soon find yourself in the realm of those manufacturers who find it necessary to print warning on a packet of nuts "May contain nuts"....
You know, while we're on the subject, I always found that "may" quite worrying !0
