  • As someone who left a viable business, a home etc etc to "chance it" with my love, I think you can guess my vote.

I tend to live by the maxim that it's not what you do that you tend to regret, it's what you dont do.

In life I have no intention of arriving at death a perfectly preserved corpse. I intend to slide sideways across the finish line smoking and leaking oil, and not for a good while yet.

Sorry, got a bit impassioned there, I'll be off now :D.

Thanks for all your opinions- I think I will book tickets.:T:T

Now.....if anyone could advise me whether I should give up a viable job to move to London and chance it with the love of my life or stay here in a relatively stable job in my field of experise although I am not enjoying it...I will forever be in your debt:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

OT and just out of interest - where do you live now?

Totally, totally agree with the above. Sometimes you really do have to jump and trust it will be alright.

Scary - yes. Worth it? Only you will know. And if it isn't worth it? Only you will know if you would rather have stayed where you are.

Which would you regret the most in 40 years time, taking the chance and it not working, or not taking the chance and it might have worked

    Big decision, good luck

This is what I have saved in my Bob & Shirley Recipes File for Croation Potato Salad. I had to import the picture to Photobucket to get it to load. It is Allegra's picture, but it has been altered in the upload process, and the recipe was cut and paste from a post of Allegra's too

My daughter's favourite way of eating potatoes is "Croatian potato salad" - potatoes boiled in their skins, peeled and sliced thinly, a raw onion sliced thinly, then mixed together, seasoned with salt and dressed with vegetable oil and vinegar. Perhaps this could be substituted for wedges on an occasion or two as a way to sneak in some uncooked oil in ?

I can test the vegan pea soup, but I can't see it anywhere. Can you point me in the right direction?

BTW, I am curious as to why the peas in the non-vegan version aren't cooked. Is there a nutrition reason for that?

I ask because I have found that if I cook them for much less than the 20 mins, the pea skins make a sort of fibre mulch in the soup and won't whizz up very well. I only bring them to the boil to have as a veg, but cook them for 20 mins for the soup.

    Sounds DELICIOUS!

ALso - the onions could be lightly (dry?) stir fried to get some sweetness into it and to remove the RAW ONION-ness.

ALso - red onion could be subbed.

Do the spuds get boiled BEFORE or AFTER slicing? (I have a feeling that AFTER slicing will save gas/electric and be quicker!)

Rainbow my bread book says that crumby texture can sometimes be because the dough is too weak so may need more kneading. try it on the normal setting which should be around 3 hours. Do you make bread by hand too? If so it may be a good idea to touch the dough after it has been kneaded to see if it feels right like when hand baking. Don't give up on your machine, it is just a matter of getting used to it. I love mine.

Weezl with regard to the marmite in bread I found this thread
you need to read quite a bit of it to see all the comments but there is a recipe on there too.
