Can you tell me if the peanuts in this recipe are plain or salted please as I would like to try it.

hello jenny :) haven't seen you for a bit, have you been off havibg fun in real life? ;)

yes, I was thinking of the asda smartprice salted ones. Although, tell me what you think about this logic: if kitty rinses the salt, then she will be able to use more marmite without it going overly salty, and we'll help her to use it up :D

Looks like I'm gonna have to cave in at last and create a facebook profile for myself, Aless....

I was thinking that too :o... still not too sure about it though :o

I am still catching up... on page 145...
Not reading too fast today, so the catch up process is as slow as a week in the jail :(

    Back later

    Hi Weezl

Have some smartprice salted peanuts in cupboard. Will make the recipe without rinsing the salt off as I won't be using garlic as I don't like it, and have not used marmite as a stock before, love marmite though :D:D. Will report back when I have made it.

Went to my Son's for a few days last week but back to real life now. Why do weeds seem to grow twice as fast as anything else.:rotfl:

Have been reading thread every day but as I don't understand any of the technical stuff or spreadsheets haven't been able to add much.

    Hope you enjoyed your holiday.

    Jenny

It's called Recipecal. Not very user-friendly, but it is thorough.

Thanks - will have a look at that or should I say add it to the ever growing 'to do' list!

Rinsing salt sounds a good idea with the marmite being salty. Thats what I will do.

been wondering about adding an emergency shopping list at some point, been quite touched by theb thread on OS about a lass with literally no money :( for food for 2 weeks. Makes me think that at those points you'd give up on whether you had enough b12 or whatever, and just concentrate on the cheapest way of getting calories in, with a bit of spare change you'd found down the back of the sofa!

I have also been following this thread and think you might be onto something here! Sounds like a great idea :D I'd be more than happy to help out with this.

We had the saag aloo yesterday. I made a half quantity and the only change I made was to use rocket in place of spinach because the garden is full of it. We both liked it very much and for taste would rate it a 10. Our only reservation was having it without anything else. I'm sure we'd get used to it, but when I make it again, I'd be very tempted to make a bit less and serve with either rice or naan bread. I used new potatoes which were a bit waxy, but I think it would be better with a more floury variety as they would absorb the flavours better.

I'd like to give the new less nutty nut loaf a test, and will try to fit it in one evening next week.

I'm away over the weekend, so look forward to catching up with everyone on Monday. Hope you all have a good one.

Not sure I will, as busy, busy, busy.
So, not sure if I have been asked to do anything :o
Anyway... will try to keep up from now :D

I don't know if this will help spotdogkez, but we tried grating a mature cheddar, stirring in some fairly runny homemade chutney, and using that as a cheesy sandwich filler. We found that just 15g of grated cheddar makes for a satisfyingly cheesy filling which would be only 7p per person of cheddar, which is a good saviing over slicing the cheese :)[/QUOTE]

Thanks for that - what a good idea. I'll give that a try.
