* 280ml warm water
* 15g Allinson yeast
* heaped teaspoon sugar
* 375g strong bread flour
* heaped teaspoon salt
* tablespoon veg (rapeseed) oil
Put yeast in breadmaker with the sugar and warm water. Stir. Don't switch breadmaker on. Lid down until froth on top of yeast mixture (usually between 5-15mins). Add the flour, salt, oil. Set to medium crust on "rapid" (approx 1hr 50mins) setting. Start the programme and watch as it stirs. If mixture seems too wet, add a little more flour (self-raising or plain is ok to use if you've run out of bread flour). If mixture seems too dry, add a little more warm water. Once you're happy with the dough, close the lid and LEAVE IT to complete the programme.
I'll let you know the results in about 2 hours
Nope, didn't work, and I don't know why
The crust was quite "biscuity", while the crumb was too soft to support a layer of butter. Difficult to cut due to the hard crust and soft crumb.
It was edible, but not economical, as I couldn't get more than 6 doorstop slices out of it!
Anyone know about breadmakers? What should I adjust in the above recipe to get a firm crust AND firm (but still fluffy) crumb?0 -
poor you rainbow
I never got on with my breadmaker and gave it away, so I can't be much help I'm afraid, sorry!

I've been working away this afternoon and have published quite a few more vegan recipes if anyone's interested.
Also I've changed the calzone method, and changed the image on the carbonara hover over, as requested.
Also reworded the onion tart pastry method a bit, but it may need further tweaking.:D:D:D

These may help especially near the bottom of the list. I will try and find another list I had.0 -

This is a similar recipe. You can leave out the cinnamon and if the recipe shows amounts as cups just click the metric button and then convert so it shows metric weights. One tip I found helpful is to always put the liquid in the tin first then the dry stuff. Just seen you did that. what setting did you use?0 -
Hello all,
I hope you are enjoying the sun!:wave:
The vegan recipes look really yummy weezl and the calzone recipe is much clearer now. :T
As everyone is contributing so much at the moment and I am doing nothing I think I may bow out of this thread soon. I feel that I am most defiantly the 'weakest link' and able to contribute very little, probably hindering rather than helping.:o However I will give you mr arty's brain and will avidly read what you are all up to and be very proud.:)
On a different topic, everyone must watch DR WHO!!!! It is brilliant and made me cry. Van Gogh IS one of the best artists ever and I have been lucky enough to see two major shows, one in Vienna and one in London-if any of you get the chance to see some of his work please do!!!:A

oh! arty that's sad for us
I'm a bit perplexed about why you don't feel you are contributing, since I see you as such a stalwart of the thread. I hate making anyone feel under pressure, but what's made you feel that way?:).
Love weezl x

erm, will you be offended if I agree with Mr Artybear?;)
arty I don't feel I need you to have a bob husband or children!
I don't feel you derail the thread and I have never felt frustrated with you being chatty, I really like it:D
I'm ever so sorry if this thread or me has made you feel unvalued. I think we all value you very much.
I know I am guilty of focussing more of my 'hello and welcomeness' onto newer people, because I don't want anyone to feel this is a cliquey thread, but I never meant to exclude my old friends
