Weezl - you can do MUCH cheaper than you quoted for a BIG screen. Let me get my hubbie onto it, and we'll get you some recommendations by the weekend...
Edit: Tried to PM you, but you're obviously too popular: text below, sorry it's OT!
Hi Weezl.
My hubby's (who is an IT consultant, and responsible for purchasing for a University dept ...that is, minimal budget!) initial thoughts are that you want this:
www.ebuyer.com/product/197347
It's on sale at the mo. too. If it doesn't look suitable, give us more specifics, and we'll get him to quote.

Measuring cups do indeed have a very specific size. I have a set of 4 with the following information on them
1/4 cup, 60ml, 2fl oz
1/3 cup, 80ml, 3fl oz
1/2 cup, 125ml, 4fl oz
1 cup, 250ml, 9fl oz
these are standard cup sizes and yes, you can use them for any recipe that uses cups. 250ml is a dainty cup of tea size
I use them a lot for little jobs. I know for instance that the 1/2 cup size is about 100g red lentils, so it is easy to scoop some out and tip into the soup, and I use them for measuring the oil and water for our recipes
just noticed your picture and edit, your jug is showing the one cup mark just above the 8fl oz, so that is the same as my metal cups
the problem with converting cups of course is that they measure by volume, so a cup of airy flour will weigh less in grams or ounces than a dense item (not going to specify one because I might look like an idiot if I say one, someone weighs it and they are the same weight!)
You're a mine of information Lesley - thank youI'll be getting myself a set now -or maybe even one of the thingies below

task for someone to take on please:
ASC hasn't popped back to say which phrases sounded glib in the nutrition FAQs so they can be removed.
Also I can't do it myself, because I know that wasn't the attitude with which I was saying it.
To me if someone asks: what about 5 a day? And you say, 'don't worry, they are there!' that believes the best of the question asker.
If we say, 'just yes they are there actually'. I believe it sounds more antagonistic.
For me, the phrase 'don't worry' is being nice to people, so I don't think I'd do the best job of rewriting it.
Help!
Hello again, I was afraid to come back given I seemed to kill the thread at the weekend. As it happens, real life rather got in the way.
I wish I hadn’t used the word “glib” now either, I must get the thesaurus out for this one
All I meant was that compared to the many, many hours of work involved in the nutritional research, the fine balancing to ensure the best mix of vitamins, minerals and omegas, and the imaginative use of ingredients to turn those vitamins, minerals and omegas into tasty recipes, the page is very short. I wouldn’t have said that I found the Q&A at all antagonistic, maybe a little dismissive?
My OPINION (that’s all) is that you should make more of the work you have done, maybe a page detailing things like instant oaty cereal is used rather than real oats because… we have used x amount of rapeseed oil because… and this much is uncooked to preserve that etc etc. I think I said before that you have covered some of this in your pop ups so it just depends on how people want to read it. The pop ups are fun, but relies on people finding them and bothering to read them and assumes they are not just looking at a printed version..
Fundamentally however, you like it and that’s what matters. I was merely trying to give an objective opinion, there’s absolutely no need for any changes. Even if you were to add a more lengthy explanation all in one place, I guess many people still wouldn’t bother to read it. Some will trust you, some wont but that’s their problem, not yours.the question would be: how do websites make provision for people on mobiles, PDAs and iphones etc?
From mr arty:
I don't know much about style sheets or anything but the website works on my phone (iphone) but you don't get the pop up pictures and is slow to load. From using my phone I've realised some websites have a dedicated website for this technology which is stripped back due to slower load times and optimised for a small screen. For example a couple of websites forward you to a site that has www.m.exampleofwebsite.com so I guess you need to find a way to implemnent this into your code if you wanted to do such a thing. (Will try look up how in a minute)
However I dont think this is required at the moment as my iphone displays the site fine.
Hope that helps Weezl from mr artybear:)
Hi Guys,
Been a busy weekend and I am very tired!!
Just watched Dr Who was very good and quite thought provoking!
Hope you are all well:)
artybearxxxx
I wasn’t suggesting you needed to do anything, I just thought you’d prefer to know. Unfortunately, I don’t know how to save a screen shot from my phone (HTC not iphone). The important thing is that the recipes are readable so I can be in the kitchen sans laptop, sans printer and still follow the recipe. The obvious differences to a full screen are:
The homepage banner cuts off at “family recipe” and underneath “feed a family of 4 fo”, other pages stop in slightly different places...
The meal planner page probably looks worse as the green lines go underneath the writing but the white lines stop before the pumpkin seed image on the right so the writing goes over that image. Presumably because white is not classed as a colour for a background. The columns fit the contents rather than being of equal width so it looks a little odd on the screen. I'm sure it prints okay though.
Ditto the recipe table, columns are aligned but bleed into the seed image on the right.
None of it is critical, stops anyone from reading the site or taking away any of the important information, but given your attention to every full stop and capital letter I genuinely thought you’d rather know than not iyswim.
I shall now sink back into obscurity!

Hi all job is going ok thanks for asking Not quite how i imagined but it could be the difference in size of hotel going from large to small but have only done 2 nights so will see how tomorrow and Sat pan out.
Weezl i should be around most of tomorrow afternoon if you can clear some space in your PM box i will give you a list of to do items and you can then let me know what you have done, forgotten about or decided to abandon. This is only if you have time and i am only nagging you about it as it is in my job description:)
PS Rainbow you are more than welcome and thank you0 -
good morning all,
Also, arty:o big favour request... I wonder if I sent you the spreadsheet and you looked at it on your 22inch monitor, you might do a screen grab of what I'd see, so I don't invest in something that won't be fit for purpose?
No worries just send it over and I will screen grab for you.
Well hello guys and gals, I have had a !!!! day at work and a very funny evening.
I went for a lovely meal with my friend, then cocktails and then Sex and The City2. I am a massive SATC fan and was so looking forward to the film.....well it was CRAP!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:mad::mad::mad::mad:
Although we paid £5.50 each we walked out after 20minutes. I have never walked out of film before but this one was sooooooooooooo rubbish I couldnt sit watching a 50year old women simulate sex whilst telling women of the world that their life is better if they get married, have children and give up their career...
Obviously feminism hasnt quite reached NY City yet grrrrrrrrrr...............
Rant over sorry.:A
Love to allxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
ETA: I am not against people staying home, looking after children etc...it was just a very silly film (and they weren't even in pretty clothes)
ETA2: This is a very self-centred and non-frugal post post sorry, sorry, sorry. Hugs to all!!!
ETA3: Yay for Fergie eating sand-every child should.
ETA 4: Mr arty thinks he has figured out the database thingy Weezl and says he will make an account and tell you all in a few days time when he is finished. In art as in love, instinct is enough

I was also hugely disappointed by the SATC film despite being a massive fan. I wish I'd gone on orange wednesdays and gotten the ticket half price, or even waited for the dvd! Oh well, you live and learn...Money paid out from Topcashback so far= £105.89 :j
