more incentives for us to feel this resource is very useful:
this linkie is written by NHS choices and mysupermarket, helping people to eat healthily on a budget.
The evening meals it mentions are both over £1 per person. Bob and Shirl's dinners average under 40p.

I genuinely feel this is the lowest cost budget meals option I've seen advertised on the internet. (ie one that's being offered as more than just a 'in a cash emergency just have beans on toast!')

    Hi Weezl

more than happy to contribute PM'ing. Am out tom eve (my brother has invited friends and family to a 'do' where he intends to propose! - he's sure of the answer, but even so, very brave I think!), other than that, I'm out today until about 2, then around the rest of the time. Sorry to read you are feeling a bit lost, like everyone else here, I think you have done an amazing job on this project, goodness only knows how you find the amount of time with such a young family. Maybe time to pause, take stock and a few deep breaths and see where we are

re the chickpea crumble and the hot oaty cereal. The reason I use oats in crumble toppings is because I like the texture it gives which the RB wouldn't provide, but it could still be nice. Only thing is to try it I think

the nut loaf last night was really nice, I would def have again, but DP thought there were too many breadcrumbs and would like them replaced with lentils, not sure that would work, but may have an experiment and see what comes out

I think the shopping list needs to remain as the rest of what is there wouldn't really work that well without it. It is the basis of month one that will be fleshed out even more with the fab new website (any chance of a peek at it?)

forgot to say, when I read my subscriber copies of food magazines now, I have much the same reaction as others to the dishes and think they are MUCH too expensive and don't find that many things to make from each issue now! Am even considering not renewing the subscription - unheard of for me!

:Dat checking prices-we have started doing this and mr arty keeps saying oh this could be frugalised or this could...:D.

when we were watching Raymond Blanc mr arty called his cooking FPS (which in poker terms means fancy play syndrome i.e making it more complicated than it needs to be and unnecessary showy) so now we start shouting at the T.V about how we can make it cheap AND nicer and healthier lol:mad::o:D.

I stayed up till half 4 watching the results come in-there were about 400 people there and they were serving food till 5 then breakfast after that!!! It was so much fun cheering and booing at the big screen and restored my faith that people do care in democracy (however the result wasnt cope what I'd hoped for)

    Hope everyones well

THE new thread could be called 'Its all gone !!!!!! for kitty' lol but its a bit rude:rotfl:

can this work with oaty cereal instead of whole oats sandra/lesley? :)

Like Lesley said, not sure if it would work, only way is to try. If I get chance I will, we have visitors at the moment, so depends on what time they leave today, I may get a chance.

Its vegan by default. There where survey done at the beginning of the plan and this resulted in 3 plans. Plan 1 was a basic cheap eating plan that incorporated meat and cheap eggs. Plan 2 was to incorporate free range eggs, so meat had to be dropped to afford this, so this became a veggie plan. Plan 3 was to incorporate fresh fruit and so cheese and milk has been dropped to afford this and hence this one has become vegan by default. This is because of the £100 limit and Weezl has done a marvelous job of putting all these plans together with this limited budget.

I hope I have explained this right. Plan 1 has just run for 1 month, plan 3 is being worked on now, as its easier than plan 2.

I've just made the crumble topping for the chickpea crumble. Thought i'd do it first incase it was a disaster. Anyway it looks to of worked. I used
25g of instant oats instead of the porridge oats and the only change that I did was to add 2 tablespoons water to get the oats to mix in. Didn't want to use more oil and put the cost up!
I shall finish the rest of the dish later and once cooked will give my verdict.

    Until later
