If she's not allowed a nice burger I think at least we could let her have a cider every now and then :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

anyone any thoughts on drinks for the vegan planner?

Planner 1 is 'drinks light' 3-4 cuppas a day with double dunking :) but at least there's something.

Are we going to offer kitty anything?

    Hot lemon cordial?

    some sort of herbal tea?

I think a cordial, maybe lemon or lime ( or if you wish to be totally outrageous, a lemon/lime :D) would be good. It can be drank hot or cold.

    Herbal tea would work too.....
I would be happy to drink normal milkless tea :D

I do have some wine in the cupboard, that has been made with no animal derived finings, therefore vegan ;) Purely for emergencies though :D

    progress report on planner 3:

I am now using a new spreadsheeet (tweaked by lovely lesley) I was almost ready with a complete vegan planner when I was hit suddenly by 'beansprout gate' where I discovered that sprouting her own beansprouts was probably going to be too tricky for Shirley whilst also doing all the batch cooking, bread baking etc. (well I certainly found it too hard, and half my beans didn't germinate :() I'm keen to recommend it as a future steps idea, but feel it's a bit hit and miss for month one.
So since beansprouts were in quite a few meals I'm having to tweak again.

Good news though, this means we can include the chick pea crumble, veganised :);):D (murrell are you listening? I know you liked that one...)

    Chick Pea Crumble
    Serves 4 - ample portions

    1tbsp rapeseed oil
    100g onion, chopped
    225g potatoes, scrubbed and sliced
400g tin tomatoes (I rinsed out the can with about 2cm of water, as Lesley said it needed more liquid)
    425g tin chickpeas
    black pepper
    1 tsp garam masala
half a tsp Colmans mustard ( I used 1/2 tsp french mustard, as I've not got any powder yet)

    Crumble
75g plain white flour 25g rolled oats
    40g rapeseed oil

    25g salted peanuts

Saute the onion, and potatoes for 2 minutes. Stir in the tomatoes. Add the garam masala and mustard. Simmer gently with lid on for 20 minutes until potatoes are soft.

Crumble – mix oil into flour and oats and stir in the peanuts.
Stir the chickpeas into the tomato sauce, season with black pepper and salt to taste. Put into a greased ovenproof dish and top with the crumble.

Bake at 190C/375F/Gas 5 for about 40 minutes

I broke the peanuts up a bit, as my dad has no teeth! Other than that, as directed above.

    Thanks
    Sandra

Think it would be a good idea to start a Phase 3 thread .

I've been thinking about the online shopping. Not all areas have online shopping yet.

If Shirley or Kitty are on a limited budget, or get paid weekly they may not have the money to buy a months shopping in one go, and buying it weekly or fornightly online would add extra delivery charges.

If a single person follows Plan 1 and spends around £25 on the shopping list in one go, an online order delivery charge would add around 20% to the cost.

    I personally like shopping weekly.

so it can be a combo of nutritional info and testing planner 3, and I can call it something amusing like :'down to the nitty-gritty with Kitty' :D?

    seriously though, why's that Jenny?

just having a quick de-lurk here to say that not everyone can shop online though,I can't as none of the supermakets deliver here, nor can I shop weekly as I live about an hour and a half away from nearest ones.At best I can go every 2 weeks but it is more usual to go monthly to keep the petrol costs down. I know I'm not the only one who has these kinds of problems with food shopping.

Why not just leave it flexible, make those suggestions that peeps should shop as best they can, when they can,be it online or instore?

I agree with keeping it flexible, I jut think saying no to on-line completely is a bit silly. However I do love to do everything I possibly can on-line so obviously I am biased.

I am staying up to watch the results come in tonight-can anyone think of any quick frugal snacks I can have so I dont buy expensive things?

Thought it would be easier to keep Kitty's plan and Shirley's plan separate as we have new people trying plan 1, and to keep us getting confused :D.

Like the title for Kitty's plan.
