I won't volunteer for this one, keen though I am - I feel I am holding people up enough as it is
I'm sure someone else is good at this sort of thing and will help us out- *she begs cheekily*

Not everybody, Arty m'luv. Some of us don't have a vote
Lesley, my sister, who worked for a while in a Croatian restaurant in Germany, also used to put mustard in her potato salad dressing. She would also add a handful of dill (which I dislike), and very finely cubed gherkins. Dill aside, the end result was delicious
ooh, gherkins. Have never tried gherkins in a salad dressing, that sounds like it would be really good with the pots and onions. Will try that next time I do it0 -
Hehe, thank you all, yes I am crazy, all food is delivered!!!
Don't panic too much though, I have been doing lots of batch cooking etc anyway! It is a lot of food that has arrived though!
I am currently sitting down for lunch - bread (already been making my own in breadmaker, but will be trying hand made ones!) and the nut/seed butter! I have never liked peanut butter, but spread very thinly it is rather tasty!
So far this morning I have made the nut/seed butter, apple curd, tangy bean pate and liver pate....on plans for this afternoon are onion tart (for tonights dinner & spare for freezer maybe!) and carrot cake!0 -
Has your food order come already?
How much space have you got in your freezer?
How many people did you buy for?
What loaf tins have you got? Have you made bread before and which recipe did you use?
Food arrived last night
Have two empty shelves in freezer
Bought for family of four
Have 2 2lb loaf tins (and a milk tin one-round) Usually make bread in the breadmaker.0 -
Hi gmac, you sound like a pro already so I'll not be all old mother henish.:D
But I'm a bit worried about that amount of freezer space and your onions, potatoes and carrots .
What do you think? can you delay starting but work down your freezer a bit more?
I'm sure you have lots of creative ideas I haven't thought of though, and maybe shirley will want to do it this way too. (I'm open to this, I just can't get my head round how she does it, myself personally, but I'm not such a good domestic manager as you lot are:A)

have just made the nut roast for tonight. Looks and smells really nice. The recipe uses 2 tblsp of the red pepper liquid. As I had all the liquid left from a jar of peppers, and I really like the taste of it in soup, I used about 120ml, replacing some of the water.
Have made a tomato sauce to go with, and DH has requested Election Special roast potatoes as well, he would have them every day I think given a chance. Will do some veg as well. Still have a few leeks in the garden, beg to grow flower stalks, so I'll use a couple of those and some carrots
Our one remaining purple sprouting (the snow destroyed them) has some shoots on that we will be able to harvest in a few days, really looking forward to that, they are usually well over by now. And the cut and come again lettuce won't be long now. I am simply longing for fresh leaves in the salads and have resisted buying those overpriced bags that go slimey in about 5 minutes flat0 -
ok, just to be on the safe side, now we don't have a lovely big group of testers all helping each other out, I'll delete the asda lists from both places. I do hope everyone will stay posting here and help gmac out though, while we move onto the month 3 recipe tests...
How does that sound everyone? Good plan?
Lesley:) I'm not sure if you still have any PMing energy but does that sound a wise next set of steps?
I'm a bit stuck and worried

You're the boss ! I am not sure though why you'd want to remove the list, though ? I know we have finished our "official" testing, but as Gmac proved today, there may still be quiet lurkers desperately needing to save money, stumbling across (or being directed to) this thread, and then not being able to proceed without the list, which would be a bit sad
I'm sure you know what you are doing though0 -
I don't think the list should be deleted, that is what made me want to do it, that someone else had worked out all the quantities for the shopping. I like the idea of it being broken down, but think that list is good too! The shopping delivery man did wonder what on earth I was up to last night I think - oddest set of shopping I have ever ordered! Also - Tesco only allow you 10 bags of bread flour (strange!).
I think it would be great if all the different months could be tested but then available to everyone to use whenever they want to?! You are all doing great work!
Onions- I intend to chop up & freeze any I am not using soon, Guess I will be making big batches of carrot cake early on, So much of the stuff is packaged and will last that I will just focus on getting fresh stuff preserved.
I haven't done the onion tart because I remembered that I made a sausage casserole yesterday which is in the fridge already!0
