    Hi Weezl

Hope you are feeling better now-

Something's I have run out of but some I have loads of still-I seem to have tinned tomatoes coming out of my ears...they are always useful though:). I bought the new Jamie Oliver recipe book today and he had a lovely recipe for pea risotto and with my frugal shopping leftovers (and a small amount of tweeking) I can make it yay!!!!:j

Had another go at bread-it was a disaster:mad:-thank goodness I don't have a burning ambition to be a baker :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:l!!!!!

    Hugs to all!!!xxxxx

p.s. Allegra I thought your avatar was you-is it not????

Its because I halved it and went under not because there wasnt enough. Another half packet of bacon for example would have been perfect!

No worries though we have eaten well this monthxxxxxxxxxx

Is it just th no-knead or have you tried the Paul Merrett one as well ? I found the PM one far easier to get on with, even if it is slightly more labour intensive. Trust me to feel affinity with the complicated:rotfl:

p.s. Allegra I thought your avatar was you-is it not????

Oh, it is me, I just have no recollection of putting it up, nor any idea why I would have done when I could not see any, including that one. I expect I popped it on as soon as I registered, and before I realised I could not see any, then forgot all about it :o

And yay for all the lurkers and their successes - having been Shirl for a month now, it all feels second nature and commonplace to me now to an extent, and sometimes it takes a few people popping up with fresh enthusiasm to make me remember just how extraordinary this little experiment of Weezl's is !

    Hi,
We are back to 'normal' from this week.
I have loads of potatoes and onions left still and a jar of nutty butter, everything else seems to be at workable levels!

arty I found the PM bread worked for me, but not the no knead. I didn't find it hard work. I find it's quite a nice thing to make in the evening, cause you do a bit to it, then let it rise, then do a bit more etc. I guess it depends what your evenings are like? Or I have mixed it up, let it rise while making tea....I tend to also give it a second rise in my loaf tins for about 30 mins :)

Just catching up and before I forget the pizza was yummy! Ferg and I happily munches our way through a fair chunk! Wish we'd had a video of him eating it...shoved a HUGE bit in his mouth and then happily wiggled and munched! sooooo cute...
Well done all of you...arty we must conquer the bread!! What went wrong with it? Maybe tell usstep by step what you did and we can try and assist?
Not been on much as mum in hospital - may come out today...keeping up with her 20 or so scrabble games is a feat in itself!!

Tried Allegra's Croation Potato Salad last night with a quiche I made using some of the red peppers I have a lot of in jars, and some very elderly ham that was in the freezer.

The salad was lovely, very simple and I will def be having it again. I used 'our' oil instead of the extra virgin olive oil I usually use to make dressings, some rice vinegar which I bought ages ago and not used any of instead of the horribly expensive balsamic that usually goes in, and whisked in some mustard as I like the emulsifying effect it has. Delish (and much cheaper)

I am using 'our' oil in all cakes and pastry now and hardly using any Vitalite any more, just a little bit on toast etc, so again, much cheaper.

I have now used up a jar of peppers, so have some juice to use up. Usually, I just bung it in whatever soup we're having that day, but I think I'll try the nut roast and see what that's like. Poss tom
