I've got basic stuff like flour, spices, oil etc it's fresh stuff that I'm short of. I've got 6 chicken thighs and a packet of fishfingers, some potatoes an iceberg lettuce, a butternut squash, frozen peas, 2 tinned sardines, 6 oranges, 3 pints of milk, onions, garlic, smallblock of cheese, 6 yoghurts and about 8 easter eggs, spaghetti and rice, tinned toms x2, beans x2 and 3 tins of chick peas. Also have a bag of yellow spilt peas, 1/2 loaf of bread, 6 hot cross buns and a bottle of champagne (oh the irony!).
That seems like quite a lot of food to me, I wouldn't panic. You'll be able to feed yourself and the kids for a week on that, especially if you bribe them with half an easter egg every few days! There are a lot of people a lot worse off than you without money coming in next week to look forward to!Getting married 02.08.14

Great to see you back on here
... You'll get lots of suggestions for what to do with your ingredients to last until you get more money.
Just thought I'd say something about your DMP. Hopefully it's with an organisation that manages these for free (e.g. the CCCS) or you're managing it yourself - and not with a company that charges a fee.
Things are obviously tough at the mo. If your situation's changed, contact your DMP provider and see if you can lower your monthly payment for a little while. If you're happy to post an SOA on here first, you'll get loads of great suggestions on where you might be able to cut back.
As an aside to this, I'm on a DMP with the CCCS - and I'm not allowed any credit, including an overdraft (even a small one) as it could affect how existing creditors view my DMP. Just something I thought I'd mention - you've got more important things to sort out now though.
Good luck and best wishes.Debt Jan 2008: £45,566. *** June 2013: DEBT FREE! ***
Paid back just under £50,000 due to some interest added.

Hey! Hope you are managing okay tonight.
You have had loads of amazing suggestions with what to do with your food! I was amazed to see all the suggestions about how you could use what you had in the cupboard. It really makes you think about how cheap it can be to eat.
I just wanted to send a message to let you know I am thinking of you. And just to add, if things get worse - write back and also maybe think about saying where abouts you are in case anyone who has offered a food parcel lives near you. I am in South Wales if you need anything.
I have been in exactly the same situation as you but luckily for me, at the time I had help from family. Please say if you need anything. I am sure you will be fine until you get money next week, you can manage and you will be absolutely okay.
Take care x0 -
Cheese and potato pie is a nice simple dish to make and kids love it.
Boil some potatoes as if for mash but slice an onion and break the slices up into the water. Boil until onions soft and potatoes cooked. Mash as normal with milk and marg or butter until no lumps remain (you might find the cooked onion a bit lumpy but trust me onthis) and then place in a shallow oven dish forking over as if for shepherds pie. Then grate lots of cheese over the top so it is fully covered, put some in the middle of the mash if you can manage it as well. Bake in a hot oven until the cheese on top is melted and brown, at least 20 mins. Lovely cheesy comfort food. The forest would be very silent if no birds sang except for the birds that sang the best0 -
Another offer of a food parcel - Just north of London, inside the M25. Not sure what we have in the cupboard, but would gladly get some basics in for you if necessary!Trust me - I'm NOT a doctor!0
