A quick way to get food is if you can find an asian temple, indian - hindu or sikh, there are free meals for everyone. Lots of people visit, no one will judge you. Take your kids and you will be given a big meal and pudding, it is free, you can go everyday. All indian people are used to lots of people dropping in and they will make a fuss of the kids too.
PS noone puts pressure on you to change religions or any of that nonsense. We are used to seeing students, homeless people, everyone eats lunch after they pop in.
Good luck pet. NB take a scarf to cover your head when you get inside.

Aaahh how lovely! In a Catholic church you'd be given a plate and expected to put cash on it!

Hope you're ok, pop back and let us know how you're getting on.
Don't think you are on your own, I had it happen to me, more than once. (had my purse nicked once with the last few quid in it to feed my kids, was so hysterical the manager let me take the eggs and spuds and told me to bring the money in when I had it... bless him)
There are a few good ideas on here to get you by till you get some money.
It might be wise to have a word on here once you get past this crisis to see what you can do to keep you in the black in future. Lots of good stuff and folk to help. Try not to worry and keep your chin up, it will be OK.
All the best.

No offence intended here but I am very sure that if your went to the priest and told him he would help. That is kinda the point. The only reason why is it easier in some Temples is because sharing a meal is almost part of the worship whereas generally in a Church you go home and invite people share a meal.
In any case I guess this isn't helping Lemon, really do hope you are ok Lemon, please do let us know

OP- make a list of items in your fridge, freezer and store cupboards and then pop over to the old style forum and post your list there, along with how much cash you've managed to find. The people on there will come up with a meal plan to last you until a week on tuesday.0

Hi Lemoncheesecake, couldn't read and run, not much to add apart from that I'm sending you my best wishes and positive thoughts.
Slightly on a tangent, have you got any porridge oats and/or pudding rice in...if you've got some milk and sugar these are both really filling meals...porridge for breakfast and rice pudding for supper should help to fill everyone up.
Also, completely agree with JCS1 about the Old Style forum, they are lovely across there and will really spend some time helping you to work out a menu.
Hope everything works out.

Hi op, have been worried about you as you haven't come back to the board, I really hope in this instance no news really is good news. I had another idea, inspired by someone on this site. Could your mum do an online shop for you with her card or give you her details so you can do one? Just a thought xDF as at 30/12/16

Sorry I didn't get back online last night - we had a power cut so I just went to bed. Thankfully electricity restored at about 5am this morning.
Thanks for the help. To clarify, we're on a DMP so have no access to any credit of any sort. Things had started to look up and hey at least all the essentials are paid for as everything leaves our account by DD on the 1st - so utility bills, DMP payment, mortgage, insurances etc all go. But things have gotten very tight with my OH not in regular work so we have less money coming in. We did have a couple of hundred in a savings account but the car and house insurance were both due in same month so I used it to pay for that.
The problem is that I am having to use the child benefit as the grocery money and that doesn't come until next Tuesday. I only have a £50 overdraft and had 50 in the bank so was planning to use that £100 for groceries for a fortnight or so and then hopefully my OH job will inish and he'll be paid. Stupid me though had forgotten that the council tax starts again in April so that has wiped out my £100 and taken me slightly over the overdraft limit which is why my card has been refused.
I've gone through the cupboards now and there's not a great deal. I have about £4.50 in change - probably a bit more if I look through the penny jar.
I've got basic stuff like flour, spices, oil etc it's fresh stuff that I'm short of. I've got 6 chicken thighs and a packet of fishfingers, some potatoes an iceberg lettuce, a butternut squash, frozen peas, 2 tinned sardines, 6 oranges, 3 pints of milk, onions, garlic, smallblock of cheese, 6 yoghurts and about 8 easter eggs, spaghetti and rice, tinned toms x2, beans x2 and 3 tins of chick peas. Also have a bag of yellow spilt peas, 1/2 loaf of bread, 6 hot cross buns and a bottle of champagne (oh the irony!).
have thought that if I can get to Sat that will be fine as my mum gets back late on Fri night - could do with some help meal planning so that it will last. My OH has no money either but as he's working away his board and digs are all paid for so he shouldn't need anything.0 -
No offence taken Buffy but the Op comes on, asks for help/advice, is given it thn disappears without acknowledging any of it.
Most people have been genuinely concerned for her espcially as there are children involved, so in the absence of any kind of acknowledgment you can understand to a certain degree why some of the comments can appear a little glib my roadkill and being offered a plate in a Catholic church being 2 of them.
As I said, there have been very sensible suggestions posted and just a little bit of feedback would be appreciated.
Sorry OP but please let us know, we're here ready to jump in to action in donating food if we can or offering advice on wierd and wonderful meal suggestions, but no one can do anything unless you speak to us.

Aaah Lemon! So sorry to hear that! And Now I will eat my words!! we were worried about you. I'll read the rest of your post now! Sorry for jumping the gun!
