I am actually struggling to believe that anyone runs their food down to next-to-nothing, especially when they only shop once a month. I bet if she checks out her freezer and cupboards, things will not be as grim as she fears. Even if they have to live on things that they are not all that keen on, just for a little while.

Also if she has any cash in her purse, even £2 will provide a few simple meals if carefully spent.

I'm sorry to hear about not having any money. That happened to me a long time ago, and I had to make do.

I second the idea of counting up any spare change you have. Its two days till tuesday, and with a couple of pounds you could buy value pasta, value tomato sauce, value baked beans, and value potatos, assuming you haven't got any staples like that already.

I would have jacket potatoes with baked beans, and cheese (if you have any) for lunch, and pasta for supper.

    Good luck.

You don't need real cheese, a packet of 10 "cheese food slices" is about 55p and one slice would make a sandwich or top a jacket spud.

If you have a Farmfoods they do six large eggs for 69p, and a 2kg bag of spuds for 69p, or two bags for £1.

If you haven't got £1 for bread, 12 Sainsburys Basics rolls are 35p and are perfectly nice.

There's all sorts of ways of saving when you're desperate.

I guess no one can help any further until Lemon comes back on and lets us know what the current situation is.

I mean, it's possible she's been able to borrow some money from a relative or friend or had some food given to her by the same.

It would be nice to know she's ok though.

Check for local soup runs for homeless people, as not many people realise you can use them even if not homeless. They welcome anyone who is struggling, with or without a home, and you and the kids will eat well. There is a brilliant one near us and they give out sandwiches, soup and hot drinks. I had to go down once to look for someone who had gone missing and was bowled over by the great work they do and how well they take care of people.

Lemoncheesecake, what area are you in?

Lemon cheese cake, we hope you are ok. I am hoping you are staying with a friend who is helping you out.

A quick way to get food is if you can find an asian temple, indian - hindu or sikh, there are free meals for everyone. Lots of people visit, no one will judge you. Take your kids and you will be given a big meal and pudding, it is free, you can go everyday. All indian people are used to lots of people dropping in and they will make a fuss of the kids too.

PS noone puts pressure on you to change religions or any of that nonsense. We are used to seeing students, homeless people, everyone eats lunch after they pop in.

Good luck pet. NB take a scarf to cover your head when you get inside.
