Does anyone know anything about childcare vouchers? My employer are just starting to do them. Are they worth it? The leaflet says I can save £900 pa. Is that right?

    Hiya,

I have no personal experience but have read up on them for when I return to work and you can definitely save a good bit of money per month. You can get more info here:

    hi starnac

With childcare vouchers the money is deducted from your wages pre-tax and possibly pre-NI - that is what gives you the saving... If you are spending on childcare regularly I would say it is worthwhile....

hi everyone else.... busy busy busy as ever... My weight keeps fluctuating so I am going to keep schtumm until it stays still!

  • Hi all,

If it's okay with everyone I just have one goal. It is to get to under 10k by Xmas. OH is due some relocation money and I will be working 1 day a week until the beginning of December so we will have extra money coming in until then.

The first 1/2 of this challenge won't be too hard but the 2nd bit will be tough as we will have to tighten our belts. If I could start the New Year with just under 10k I would be very happy though.

Hope everyone else is well and is getting on well with their challenges :)

    Hi all.

I think that would be ok CMD. That's quite a challenge so you better concentrate on just that one.

We're pretty much there getting the flat in order, it's looking really nice and feel so comfortable there and with bf. Feeling very lucky. :)

The challenge I'm going to struggle with is the HSBC cc. I have £203.93 on it and none of it really essential. I'm also on my o/d on my other account by around £120. Deposit money was suppose to cover that but as I had less it only touched it and that's what's still left. This moving business has gotten me into a spot of bother...

    Moving is an expensive business

Thanks for the advice re childcare vouchers. I've spoken to some other mums and they all say it's worth it so have spoken to nursery and work and paperwork is on it's way.

It's the weight bit I'll struggle with cos I'm doing rubbish-ly. That's a new word to show how bad in doing. Right off to pick DD up from nursery x

  • I think having one goal is often more than enough....

I feel now I am in steady work that our money is now back under control (she conveniently forgets car, motorbike and gym bills all due to be paid out of next month's wages) well relatively under control - which is now leaving me more capacity to focus on fitness, family and friends!

Have made £1100 payment to post office on target but next month will be paying the unexpected bills above...!! So payment to cards will end up being close to the wire around xmas... I have started my xmas shopping tho...... ROFL
