No Buying Toiletries in April Challenge!

Hello ladies. Some good news to report today which has lifted my spirits a little bit.
I had to go into the dreaded Boots to buy some toiletry bits for OH this morning. As I walked in I noticed one of the nice SA's on the till, so I took a deep breath, picked up what OH wanted and decided to try and exchange the bits I have been carrying around with me for weeks. :embarasse
I am happy to say that she kindly exchanged the four handbag sized tubes of John Frieda Frizz Ease and an Umberto Giannini Instant Beauty Makeover Spray for me. So that's a few more bits from the stash gone, £1.39 added to my giftcard and OH is happy for a change.Time may be a great healer, but it's a lousy beautician....0 -
How effective is shampoo as a handwash? Thinking of refilling he handwash container with some of the shampoo stash...........0
-
The other problem is, I have to test this on one side of my face so I can compare the resutls - if this stuff works, I'm going to have beautifully plump velvety skin on one side and a face like a bag of hammers on the other.Time may be a great healer, but it's a lousy beautician....0

Hurrah!
I have finished a shampoo and conditioner - Herbal Essences smooth and straight (or something like that).
On to the last pair in the stash now - Timotei (the pink one). I have tried lots of expensive shampoos but none of them ever really seem worth the money to me - Aussie is good but is expensive for me, I only buy it when its on a good offer.
I'm slapping on stuff left right and centre these days - I hope its all doing some good?0 -
Purchase (necessary) aveda outer blemish. It works for me, I've finished the last one.0

I finally opened the horrifically expensive Guerlain cream (note to newbies, I did NOT buy this, it was given to me to test) and felt it shoud have been accompanied by trumpet fanfares as I worked my way through the cellophane, slip cover, beribboned lid and little drawer in the box where the tiny spatula is kept - perish the thought the contents should be sullied by a finger! It is the heaviest jar ever - none of this cheap plastic malarky, no, this is thick glass, with a metal lid, heavy enough to be the seventh murder weapon in Cluedo.
Thanks to the ridiculous price, I so wanted this cream to be horrible, I wanted to be allergic to it, I wanted to hate the smell, I wanted it to feel no different to Nivea. No. It had to be absolutely gorgeous, didnt it. It just had to leave my skin moisturised all day. The other problem is, I have to test this on one side of my face so I can compare the resutls - if this stuff works, I'm going to have beautifully plump velvety skin on one side and a face like a bag of hammers on the other.
LOL!!!!!! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Afternoon all
well have opened some new products whilst away as they were mini sized ones which were handier for my sponge bag.
Have used up another 5ml P&P serum though so that's another £1 in the pot. Another one opened up yesterday. Also gave a small foundation, a cream eyeshadow, small mascara, trial size nail varnish and a lip gloss to my 12 year old neice as she is just starting to experiment with make up for her easter. So that was a few mini's gone - most of which were GWP and things that I probably wouldn't use. Will update my list later.
Am nearing the end of my No7 toner and a deoderant so hoping they will be gone by the end of the weekend and possibly my shampoo (but I will have to buy more of that as I don't have any in stock). I'm going to have a PYNTh tonight as my nails are looking particularly neglected as I haven't done them for a week.
Tara - glad the wedding went well and sorry about the necklace it is lovely.
Bronnie - hope you are having a great holiday
Judgejaq - PMSL re the bag of hammers:rotfl:
Sorry if I have missed any other comments but I was having a quick skim read to catch up on all the pages I had missed.0 -
Afternoon ladies
Have finally caught up with all the chit chat.
Been a bit awol as DH's brother passed away easter Monday, he was suffering so much it was a relief and now he is at peace. DH is coping remarkably well as is my SIL, although she never got to bring him home. Funeral will be some time next week.
Bronnie hope you have a fabulous time on holiday & enjoy plenty of these .
Tara lovely news on the wedding.
I decided not to test for the beauty Bible this time, although I love doing it and the value of the products is normally fab, the £30.00 charge will remain firmly in my pocket. This thread has really changed my ways & made me realise just how much money I had spent in the past.
I have used up the following Bvlgari Blue perfume WIBA oh yes I love all the Bvlgari fragrances, have 3 more different fragrances in my stash to be going on with.
Bliss lemon & sage soap WIBA probably not, as very overpriced and I have a further 2 in my stash.
I will hopefully be popping in into town as I need a new summer blusher, Bronnie has given good reviews on the Mac cream blush for us more mature ladies :rotfl:
That's my lot

Yay!!!! I have just finished a Prescriptives Super Line Preventor Extreme!!! I didn't realise that I was near the end of it, so it is a nice suprise (I am easily pleased...). This brand is now defuncked so cannot buy again. It is a good serum though.
Now started an A'Kin serum (not the Rosehip Oil (which is fab btw), it is the other one). Is says it is for evening use...does anybody know whether it is ok for daytime use as well?0 -
Debidoodle so sorry to hear your news, thinking of you all x0
