Lovely necklace Tara, gutted you didn't get itI've seen similar ones in Red Cross shop, think it's a 'brand new' line kind of thing iyswim so may be worth lookng in if you have one nearby. Glad yu had a good time at the wedding, you'll soon be back on track weight loss wise. I was the same when I went to my friend's wedding and really kicked myself especially as there was a girl there who I HATE who had lost a lot of weight . But am kind of back on track now :A
Oooh I hate that!!!
Thanks for the necklace tip, who knows, maybe there'll be another one sometime... or the buyer mightn't pay and it might be relisted... and in the meantime I am telling myself that I saved £8.xx. *pathetically clutching at straws*:jHi, Great idea & will certainly be giving this a go. Another useful idea for all your smaller toiletries & freebie samples is to make up small bags with soap, shampoo & conditioner etc. These can be donated to elderly wards at local hospitals for patients to have basic essentials & treats too. They may have no-one to bring any in to them (or the money to buy them ) as they may have been brought in unexpectedly.Helps to clear out the cabinets & makes you feel good too !:A
That's such a lovely idea, thanks kascem, and welcome to the thread. :A

I love this thread, but i think its maybe preaching to the converted here. I have a total of 2 bottles in my shower shampoo and conditioner. My flatmate has 1 his shower gel.
I do use deoderant and makeup daily and perfume too, however due to having fussy skin i learned that the best thing for my skin is ... NOTHING!
I stopped using cleansers and moisturisers on my face on advice from a mate and just use hot water and a face cloth. I use a damp cotton pad to remove my makeup, then rinse with hot water, wet the cloth then wring it out so its as dry as i can get, then rub my whole face with it in a small circular motion. It worked !my spots cleared up. However my arms were also in a bit of a state so i tried going without products on my body and use the facecloth rubbing, and it has worked. I shower regularly (so i'm not stinky) and the facecloth works as an exfoliator. I have stopped getting so many ingrown hairs after waxing or epilating(the latter being one of the best investments i've ever made, its like waxing with no mess and it's more than paid for itself)
It might not work for everyone, but it does for me. It does mean that all smelly stuff I get given tends to get donated to tombola's or passed on to others.
Things I do use however if i get a dry patch (my elbows are bad for this, and with the extremely cold weather my skin was taking a beating) I use aloe vera gel, which lasts ages as you don't need much and you don't get that greasy feel that you get from creams.
I do however need to have a proper clear out of my cosmetics. I hoard these lots and i am getting better at using things up. I have used up 2 "day" lipsticks in the last 2 weeks and i'm wearing out another. However I seem to only have "going out" ones left. But I'm thinking If I blot them lots that might make them pale enough to wear to work. However I have some pinky/pale ones which aren't very me, but mixing them with some of my darker ones might make a good colour for heading to work in. Think i'm going to have a go at "playing" tonight and pair up some of them. I like a simple life and having less crap rattling about my makeup drawer the better.
I also have loads of eyeshadows, which i never seem to make a dent in, but i guess i'll just not buy any more of them... though its been almost 6 months since i last bought any.
I hope that the "soap dodging" helps someone stick to their no toiletry purchasing.x210 -
trudi, I know the feeling lol. I overdone it with the body butter the other night and had to wash it off my legs after 10 minutes in bed. The quilt cover stuck to me everytime I rolled over
I go to aqua fit and this week put body butter on before I went....big mistake:eek::eek::eek:I kept falling off the woggle(sort of tube float we use) as it was so slippy:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
just been bad and ordered a half price Cinema perfume with free postage from half price perfumes...bit annoyed tho as a/ when I tried to go through Quidco the item was not on the site and b/ each time I got to check out the site vanished and i had to call them!
I s someone casting spells to stop me spending????0 -
Woop! Just finished off a body shop cocoa butter body butter - wouldn't buy this again, it seems to be to rich for my skin. The matching shower gel and body scrub are also nearly done with which is good as I really don't like the smell!
What I have learnt from this thread so far;
I like to smell of fruity things
I do not need to buy expensive body scrubs - exfoliating mitts are just as good and cheaper!!I want a perfect body, I want a perfect soul, I want you to notice when I'm not around0 -
I am SO close to finishing many things..... hopefully by tonight I will have lots to report!!!!
Can't wait to take some new bits out of my stash.
However, I no longer get pleasure looking at my stash, I just see lots of debt and I am scared that some things will go off before I get to them. I keep thinking that I will use the good and 'more expensive' stuff first, but then I don't want to leave the 'less nice' stuff to last.
Ho hum... I will get there in the end....0 -
I finished the handwash in the bathroom today. But, shame on me, I used it to clean the bathroom, and the walls in the hallway/stairs. Its such a relief. I'd grown to hate the colour! But the smell was good0

...I've been complaining about the never-ending S&G body butter, but have to confess it would be used up by now if I actually remembered to use it EVERY time I had a shower/bath
must do better!

Used it this morning, only a little but still had to spent ten minutes wandering round in the nuddy waiting for it to soak in properly... such an attractive sight - not  About a third of the tub left - i think I'll start slapping it on DH
Oh, & finished my shampoo unexpectedly: then I remembered, DD was home & uses the same stuff!I can cook and sew, make flowers grow.0 -
Hello All
I started this in January with the original OP. I used to be a major hoarder of beauty products - total sucker for the Lush giveaway in January each year.
Worst case was three years ago when i got £80 worth of gift boxes and spent £80 to get them. Still using up shampoo bars and soap from then.:o
My challenge is going ok BUT i product test - so since Jan have tested a facial toner, two types of body lotion and fake tan.
Really REALLY determined not to buy until i clear the backlog ( which is still pretty vast) I like the idea of ebay - but have never sold anything on there so more than a little nervous at the prospect

Every day this week I've been anticipating coming on and saying I've finally managed to finish off an Origins Ginger shampoo, but it's STILL there. Is this stuff auto-filling?
I finally opened the horrifically expensive Guerlain cream (note to newbies, I did NOT buy this, it was given to me to test) and felt it shoud have been accompanied by trumpet fanfares as I worked my way through the cellophane, slip cover, beribboned lid and little drawer in the box where the tiny spatula is kept - perish the thought the contents should be sullied by a finger! It is the heaviest jar ever - none of this cheap plastic malarky, no, this is thick glass, with a metal lid, heavy enough to be the seventh murder weapon in Cluedo.
Thanks to the ridiculous price, I so wanted this cream to be horrible, I wanted to be allergic to it, I wanted to hate the smell, I wanted it to feel no different to Nivea. No. It had to be absolutely gorgeous, didnt it. It just had to leave my skin moisturised all day. The other problem is, I have to test this on one side of my face so I can compare the resutls - if this stuff works, I'm going to have beautifully plump velvety skin on one side and a face like a bag of hammers on the other.
I shall keep you updated...
In the meantime, I have finished off the Scholl footcream. WIBA? No. The cream was lovely and thick, and felt very intense, but results were disappointing, and my feet don't feel as soft as they did with the Boots cream, so I'll be picking some of that up later this afternoon.0
