No Buying Toiletries in April Challenge!

Hi, I'm a newbie'ish! Funnily enough I decided to do this before Christmas and still haven't bought anything, got more for Christmas to add for the stash. I also decided I'd do the same for house cleaning sprays, gels etc. The more I thought about it, having cleaners for specific jobs seemed ridiculous and again I had cupboards full of cleaning agents...again, I've not bought anything since before Christmas and everything is managing to multi-task quite nicely! Saved a fortune!0

Well, by accident I have used up a Lush bath bomb thing. Got into the bath, reached above me to put my book on the shelf and knocked off a bomb from the arrangement above me that landed with a big thud on my head and then a plop into the bath!
Not really fussed on them but hey-ho that's another one gone at least!0 -

Yes, I thought he was quite cute too lol!I use those little metal bulldog clips on tubes of all types. Helps keep the soft plastic toothpaste tubes rolled up too, til you're ready to chop them open to scrape out the final dregs!
I use those too Bronnie, they do the job really well. :THow about never buying toiletries again?
All those chemicals readily absorb into your skin, let alone into our water supply. they are ridiculously expensive considering we evolved for thousands of years without them; our skin can do a perfectly good job of cleaning itself.
For the past 3 months I have used:
no soap
no shampoo (just scrub under hot water and fine comb it out)
no aftershave
no shaving gel (I started to use coconut oil or olive oil, but found it clogs the razor and hot water is just as good)
No moisturiser (skin balances itself out without drying soap...can use coconut oil if needed)
homemade toothpaste - salt, baking soda, glycerin and peppermint oil
no wash bag to carry through airports, no stress of products running out, and clean thick style-able hair...its all good!
Erm... I think most of us have some way to go before we get to that stage!!! :rotfl: Unless you are suggesting that we bin all our existing toiletries :eek:Get to 119lbs! 1/2/09: 135.6lbs 1/5/11: 145.8lbs 30/3/13 150lbs 22/2/14 137lbs 2/6/14 128lbs 29/8/14 124lbs 2/6/17 126lbs

I had a lovely time at the wedding, could have done with being a stone lighter (am so cross with myself for being so bad lately) but it was fine lol. The bride looked beautiful.
I had a little toiletry spend today in my fave CS - 2x blow drying volume lotions by some designer haircare brand (can't remember the name, will check later) for 10p each (!) and a L'Occitane 4 pack of travel conditioners for 99p woo!
ETA: gah gah gah gah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have just missed a necklace ending on eBay that went for peanuts, boo hoo!I want to cry.

A bit late maybe, but hope you have a fab holiday Bronnie!
Lovely necklace Tara, gutted you didn't get itI've seen similar ones in Red Cross shop, think it's a 'brand new' line kind of thing iyswim so may be worth lookng in if you have one nearby. Glad yu had a good time at the wedding, you'll soon be back on track weight loss wise. I was the same when I went to my friend's wedding and really kicked myself especially as there was a girl there who I HATE who had lost a lot of weight . But am kind of back on track now :A
Not used anything up but have one more go of a body shop cocoa butter body butter then onto s&g, yay!
Stuff from last month's Montague Jessenue (sp) and Body Shop order turned up today - 25 random face masks/hair masks etc and coconut oil hair shine and white gardenia perfume
Erm, did order the 3 for 2 Body Shop make up tonight - 1 palette, lipscuff and concealer. Erm, might have to do a make up stocktake at some point :rotfl:. Think there's quite a lot of it! Have four make up bags, a huge jar and a mug full...might have to stop buying that too.I want a perfect body, I want a perfect soul, I want you to notice when I'm not around[/SIZE][/FONT][/B]0 -
Hi all you newbies, glad you had a good time at the wedding Tara - and Bronnie, hope you are having a FAb holiday !!!
In my quest to use up the horrible body butter i have (the botanics one that Tara thought I was being generous wiht my sample size of till she tried it too) I used it all over me last night after my bath.....
I may have used a teensy bit too much, cos I was still slimey this morning when I got up - and my work clothes stuck to me like they were wet...
BLEAUGH !!!!! (though at least theres only about another 3 times worth to do that with it!!) and I might put it on my dogs bald thighs too - see if he likes it....Do not meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup0 -
New starter from today! Started by writing a list of all my beauty goodies cant wait to cross those bad boys off. Great idea i needed to declutter!0

Welcome KittyWalsh. You'll soon be addicted like the rest of us.
DH wanted his back done so I was generous and let him have some of the repellant smelling but fabulously moisturising wink body butter. Less than half a tub of this left.Debt: 16/04/2007:TOTAL DEBT [strike]£92727.75[/strike] £49395.47:eek:   £43332.28 repaid 100.77% of £43000 target.MFiT T2: Debt [STRIKE]£52856.59[/STRIKE] £6316.14 £46540.45 repaid 101.17% of £46000 target.2013 Target: completely clear my [STRIKE]£6316.14[/STRIKE] £0 mortgage debt. £6316.14 100% repaid.0 -
I'll try a quick post inbetween my internet playing up
Welcome to all the new toiletry addicts hehe :jHope you can all stay on the straight and narrow.
I haven't bought anything but I've actually used something up!! I finished a mascara today so I'm starting on the Boots one I got in a GWP. It's ok but the new style brushes always seem to put it on too heavy and clump my eye lashes together. Can't complain though because I'd totally run out until I searched for this in my makeup bag :T
Also finished some shampoo and used a sample size Vaseline Sheer Infusion I got. It smells quite nice and soaked into my legs really well.
My hair is now touching the top of my bum if I tip my head back so I'll see if I can get it cut tomorrow. Fingers crossed it'll be just inbetween my shoulder blades this time tomorrow night. I feel like I'm wasting my hair repair atm because it's so wrecked with split ends and it'd be more like "hair miracle" if it's actually doing anything to help it.
trudi, I know the feeling lol. I overdone it with the body butter the other night and had to wash it off my legs after 10 minutes in bed. The quilt cover stuck to me everytime I rolled over :eek:Even if you stumble, you're still moving forward.0 -
:jHi, Great idea & will certainly be giving this a go. Another useful idea for all your smaller toiletries & freebie samples is to make up small bags with soap, shampoo & conditioner etc. These can be donated to elderly wards at local hospitals for patients to have basic essentials & treats too. They may have no-one to bring any in to them (or the money to buy them ) as they may have been brought in unexpectedly.Helps to clear out the cabinets & makes you feel good too !:A0
