Caught myself emptying the 'teadust' from the bottom of a box of teabags into my compost box last night.... is that a step too far do you think?:eek::eek::)
No, I think that's reasonable ...I thought you were going to say you made your tea with it!:rotfl:That would be different ...Life is mainly froth and bubble

Hi all~just joined the forum "properly" after lurking in the shadows... I do maybe too many of the embarrassing things on here. Probably the worst is the water saving....unless I am having visitors, I don't empty the bath (except for the dregs), other than with a bucket (which is now a near-permanent fixture on the bathroom floor) to flush the loo. I have been known many a time to chuck all the washing in the used bathwater and do a "grape-stomping" type wash. The washing machine probably goes on only once a fortnight (if that). What doesn't go in the bath or the fortnightly wash is either tumbled for couple of mins (without washing) or hung outside to air. (Tumble drier is my one guilty secret~please don't judge me!
PS cheap perfume sprayed on wetwipes=reusable drier sheets) Bath water is also used for mopping the floor and watering the plants...
It's only when you type it out loud that you realise how bad you've got..... :rotfl:
*BUT* the water bill's gone from £70 to £15 a month and will hopefully drop again a bit next time round.
*BUT #2* I will never be able to live with anyone ever again....0 -

I have a downstairs bathroom, tiled floors and LOTS of dogs so regularly use the bathwater for a quick mop round - then water the plants with it. Sometimes I decant bathwater into watering cans to swill over the paving outside the front door. Once a week I take the swing bin from the kitchen and wash that in the bathwater before pulling the plug.
The annoying thing is that this doesn't impact on our water bill (£14 a month) as it's based on the rateable value of the property. OH thinks I'm nuts to do these things but it makes me feel "right" to use the water twice:D.

My partner is the best at saving...
He dilutes dish soap in a spray bottle and just sprays the dishes when he washes up. We have only used 1/2 a bottle of washing up liquid in 5 months.
I know this is an old thread but I just tried this. It seemed to work better if I sprayed the sponge rather than the dishes. It did work really well though, and I can see not having to buy washing up liquid very often!:happylove0 -

I love this thread, have read it many times
I have a small cardboard box sat on the microwave, and when I get any letter from the school/post - I cut it up and use it as scrap. I have not had to buy notebooks for years now.
I also print coupons out (from the internet) onto the back of letters / scrap paper, never had a problem with that.
I keep old clothes / towels for cleaning the bathroom, windows - using cut up towels as flannels.
I always keep a bottle of tap water in the fridge, cold water is fabulous. I make my own ice too, no way would I buy a bag when all it takes is time.Wishing you all good luck!

I wash and keep the waxy bags that cereals are packed in inside their boxes. Always keep one in my handbag for when I eat out (pub meals and the like, not posh but one of my few treats) for bringing home any leftovers either for my tea or for the cat.0

I also keep these and cut them into squares to put between chops, homemade burgers, steaks, etc before freezing. Makes it easy to grab just one or two out at a time."Men are generally more careful of the breed(ing) of their horses and dogs than of their children" - William Penn 1644-1718

a whole year without a washing machine makes you appreciate it alot more.
I cut up cereal boxes to make lists, and I use the boxes the dogfood comes in to keep things seperate on my shelves! They drop low at the front so I can easily see whats in them and I can stack them! Shelves full to ceiling!
And I use pine cones to light the fire! :rotfl:2013 NSD 100. CC2014CC- £31.50/£1352014 NSD 86 so far - May 20/212014 G/C spend £741.55 so far May £107.99/£91Debt Free - 30.05.13 Emergency tin - £1000June 23 - 9NSD0
