I too when I am having a shower stick a large empty bucket in there to catch the water before it starts to run hot enough. It goes down the loo to flush it or in the summer on the garden /lawn.I didn't use the hose in the garden once at all this year and as I live in the drier part of the south east and am on a water meter I was quite pleased about it as well..made some soap with old odd ends of bars that I collect in a jam jar under the sink.every scrap gets used up, no wasting in this house

I am certainly more careful now I'm on a water meter. In fact I shower at the gym to save having one at home!:D

Hello, here are a few things that I do
I save the olive oil that the sun-dried tomatoes are stored in and then use it to cook with.
I zest a lemon before serving people wedges and either freeze it or add it to Quark to make a low fat desert.
Cut up old vests or t-shirts to use to clean the window with.
Use hankies instead of tissues (unless the cold is REALLY bad).
Walk 5 mile round trip to cinema ( yesterday) instead of use the car or bus.

I have kept all the cards that hubby and I have given each other. Rather than spend more money on more cards I am going to suggest that hubby picks one of the cards that he has already given me and puts a new message in, with a date, and then regives it to me (Valentine's Day and Christmas to start with). Has any one else done this before?2025 Fashion on a ration 0/66 coupons

Did this many years ago with Valentine's card. Hubby had come back home unexpectedly (he was in merchant navy), hadn't bought him a card, so found an old one and gave him that. Was ages later that he commented that he recognised the card, but thought I had just been a bit dippy and bought the same card twice. He got that card every Valentine's day thereafter!0 -
Aww that's rather romantic Anne _Marie and Gem-gem. What lovely memories to "recycle" with the cards and paper too.
Just shows you what "added value" you can get from recycling.
I've not bought cards or paper / bags for years. I also reuse and this year I ran out! So I've been a right tight-wad and made cards and put everyone's gifts in recyclable shopping bags, tied with a bow and homemade cloth tag.
Now we all have to reuse our shopping bags I thought they'd make an extra treat (lol). Got some really nice designed, sturdy ones too from Primark.
One of my sons is receiving lots of cosy fleece jammies, thermals, fleecy slipper socks, electric blanket and a teddy bear bed fleecy throw ( he lives in an old, cold Glasgow Victorian tenanament flat)- so his is in a big zip up bag with pocket on the outside. Sure to be useful for his laundrette trips
I bought both boys grown up proper classic wool coats too, for work. Hopefully they'll like them. Again, they're in recyclable shoppers0
