Hi all,
Just for you all to know, CADW (the welsh version of the national trust) offer one carer free admission with a disabled person.
i suppose it does help ease the disapointment when visiting places that arnt allowed to install lifts for complete access but its worth checking before you go that what you as a disabled person can actually access before you get there.
Cardiff Castle and Castell Coch are two that disapointed me very much as rooms were off limit once we'd paid to get in. Although Castle Coch does have an interactive screen inside to show you what your missing!:(
Our Australian visitors loved it though and I suppose that's what matters in the end.
Love this thread, thanks to you all that have contributed :A0 -
Hi all,
Does anyone know if there's an EAGA scheme running within Wales, as the grant application wont accept me coz i live in Wales!!!!
Thanks all0 -
Hi mackydog, that is wrong, ofcourse you can get it in Wales - I did. It is run through the Welsh Assembly.
Are you looking to get free heating and insulation (the HEES - The Home Energy Efficiency Scheme) offered by the Welsh Assembly?
I had it through EAGA group in 2003 but I keep getting phonecalls now offering this to me! Although they did tell me that the loft insulation thickness has been increased since I had it done back then and that I qualify for this!
I have found the envelope which has the address and telephone number on it (offices in Cardiff: Uned 4, Llys Ty Nant, Heol Ty Nant, Treforgan, Caerdydd, CF15 8LW) for Eaga Partnership Cymru if this helps - phone: 029 2027 7260.
If you don't get any joy I would telephone the Welsh Assembly and enquire.0 -

ALSO NO ONE HAS MENTIONED THIS. ELECTRICITY AND GAS COMAPNIES HAVE A DUTY TO PROVIDE EXTRA SERVICES TO DISABLED CUSTOMERS. THEY ARE HIGHER PRIOIRY THAN REGULAR CUSTOMERS, SO IF YOU'RE DISABLED CONTACT YOUR ELECTRICTY AND GAS COMAPNY RIGHT NOW TO SEE WHAT SERVICES THEY PROVIDE. THEY MAY EVEN CHARGE LESS FOR CERTAIN TARIFFS.
Thanks for your info about gas and electric. I did not realise that I could get this service.“…the ‘insatiability doctrine – we spend money we don’t have, on things we don’t need, to make impressions that don’t last, on people we don’t care about.” Professor Tim Jackson

Not sure if they are still doing it since all of the recent poor publicity about tariffs, but disabled people in receipt of disability benefit were able to go on the 'essentials' tariff with British Gas which was the cheapest tariff they had.
May be worth mentioning it but it won't show up on any websites or even comparison sites. If it's still available, then you get dual fuel discount on top if paying by DD.:hello:On mortgage pay off countdown. Less than 8 years to go. :j Won £50 Amazon voucher for filling in a survey, £100 shopping voucher, £20 Odeon voucher, £20 bowling voucher :T Doing a £2 terramundi jar challenge but everyone else seems to have the same challenge as there don't seem to be many £2 coins around!:p0
