My hubby goes to watch rugby league and his team and the disabled person pays but the carer goes free and this also goes for season tickets.

I think this goes for a lot of other attractions as well.

  • I'll just 'big up' the Warm Front scheme. Last year I had a new central heating system fitted to my house - a top quality condensing boiler and eight radiators - didn't cost me a penny. On top of that you can get cavity wall and loft insulation all for free too.

    Silly question time.

example of concession, how can you prove you are disabled and have a carer if you have to use your blue badge for parking.

I ask because i have to do a few day trips in a few weeks and to help with costs i would like to see if i can get help?

  • I use my DLA award letter if I'm asked, I always take it with me if I think I may need to show proof.

I've been told that if you travel on a train and remain in your wheelchair for the duration of the journey, then you can get reduced [free??] travel.

You can also get a second adult discount if they are there as your carer.

The man at the train station told me this. I haven't had a chance to look into it yet though :)

Hello, we don't have a blue badge, even though we are entitled to one, because hubby isn't well enough to drive and I'm not allowed to drive due to severe vertigo/balance problems. We are both entitled to free bus passes, Greater Manchester (GMPTE) issued those and most places except that as proof of disability because it's pretty obvious, at 38 and 42, we've not got one because we're pensioners.

If they want proof he's on DLA we have a copy of the cover sheet from his award letter and to prove I'm his carer I also have my cover sheet from my Carer's award. Only used the CA once as it's a new award but didn't have a problem with it.

That's not correct for the M6 toll
The Mobility Exemption Pass allows free passage of the nominated vehicle on the M6 Toll only. If you think you may be eligible for a Mobility Exemption Pass, you must apply to Midland Expressway Limited as no other evidence of disability (e.g. Blue Badge) can be accepted. To qualify for exemption, you must be on the higher rate disability living allowance and be road tax exempt.
