Those who reside in London boroughs and receive the higher rate of mobility or are registered blind/severely sight impaired or receive a war pension's mobility component, can apply for a London taxi card. This allows you to use licensed black cabs at a reduced rate. You only pay £1.50 for fares up to £11.00 or thereabouts. The borough pays the next £10.30. If the fare exceeds this, you pay the remainder after the £10.30 is taken off. Each person is allowed 108 trips per year and all trips must start and end in the London boroughs. I wish I lived in London! :j

We went to an event at the above at the weekend and no disabled/carer prices were shown, just child and OAP consessions but we asked for our usual, one disabled, one carer and one child and we only paid £9 when adult prices were £10 each and children £3 or £4 pounds (if no concessions a family ticket was £20)

We always use the same words when we buy tickets and its failed only once, I am visably disabled and if they dont know what to charge they usually just pick a low price from thin air (thats what I thought on sunday)

The showground has good disabled facilities indoors (good loos, good flooring, seats etc.) but out doors there is a gentle incline that I wouldnt have wanted to climb back up but I can only give a wheelchair users opinion.

In London, you can also be exempt of the congestion charge, if you have a blue badge. You need to pay a £10 registration fee but after that you are exempt.

    Here are the details

I don't think you have to reside in London, so even if you only go through london a few times a year it might still be cheaper if you register

maybe a stupid question, but, do you need to have qualified for the "carers" conponent to benefit from a carer to gain either free or discounted entry at attractions?

I've just found out I can get a registration card from my council. Whilst it doesn't do anything in itself, it means I can wave it at people who think I'm too young to have arthritis

Photocopy your blue badge (both sides) then show this. If they query it tell them the original is displayed in the car outside/nearby in the car park & that you are willing to go with them & show them if they like. As if any cashier is going to walk to go check when you have photocopies in your hand.

    Always works for us.

Actually thats a really brilliant idea, hope you don't think I'm going to be cheeky if I borrrow it. xx
